During cross-examination, former Workers' Party's cadre Yudhishthra Nathan admitted advising former WP MP Raeesah Khan to "actively maintain the lie" about her false anecdote due to WP's failure to provide a suitable plan for her to come clean.
Nathan explained that, at the time, he felt compelled to suggest that Khan continue with her lie, given the "party leaders' directions for months" and the absence of a clear strategy after an important 12 October 2021 meeting.
Nathan clarified that his suggestion was not for Khan to fabricate new lies, but rather to clarify certain details of the false story, such as the age of the alleged sexual assault victim, without revealing that she had not actually followed the victim to a police station.
When District Judge Luke Tan asked whether this advice was meant for Khan to mislead the police, Nathan said he could not recall if his comment related specifically to the police investigation or if it was more general.
