Severn Valley Railway - Spring Steam Gala - Saturday 23rd March 2013

Spring seemed to have disappeared at the Severn Valley's Spring Steam Gala, giving way to something more apt of the festive season with snow being the order of the day, making for some cold, wintry scenes. The motive power for the event harked back to the days of the Branch Line galas of a few years ago, with tank engines being the main source of power for the trains. Four guest locos were brought in for the event, this being the first opportunity for the public to see GWR 14XX No 1450 in its new BR Lined Green livery after a period in Matte Black, it was also a rare chance to see USA Tank No 65 on a longer preserved line.
