it’s both relaxing and disturbing in my case. it’s a relaxing tune, while the meaning behind it (and some part of the song if you listened to it for long) is disturbing.
@iliketoast32114 жыл бұрын
I hear a false sense of freedom in the song, something like feeling lost or your too far in to back out, i have a hard hearing a positive/relaxing tune in this song. Persona 5 did a great job on making somebody feel this way and make you feel that this is the end, the feeling of being abandoned or sabotaged and having an upbringing fits the song very well and in my case, would make me feel hopeless Usually when i listen to this song i have strange thoughts like i image somebody i know closely being hurt or maybe even die, but if i focus on the guitar in the song it makes the song sound like theres a slim change of changing the future and being given a second chance in your behaviour. Another thing i listen to is the violin or drums, it makes the song feel lost but also (as said before) given a second chance. The way Atlus designed this song can be so simple yet so complex, it can make you feel one way or feel a totally different way if you listen again. Hell, it can even change your thought process if you get too into it like i do. This song is so underrated because its often glazed over as “the repetitive song” or be connected with the mementos song, thinking about it now, the song can make you see the world as a different colour, whenever i listen i image the world as a gray abandoned vast-land or a corrupted pink-ish world filled with hate, this song is way easy too look over just as a sad or happy song, there are so many complex emotions and feeling when listening to this song.

It is kinda sad to see that there are some truth in the topic of humanity's public thoughts in Persona 5. Human fundamentally always want the easier way to solve their life's problem, which is why they willingly put themselves into cognitive prison and let the others decide it for them. It is easier to walk the path that someone gave it to you, than finding it yourselves for what you truly wants. Why ? Mostly because we, modern human would rather have a guaranteed, easier, and happy life, even though it is bland, monotone, dark/dirty, and shackled our own freedom for it. That exact reason is why modern society slowly but surely degenerating into sloth society, which include ignorance and avoiding heavy responsibility. That is also why, we, as the younger generation must make sure it must not happened for ourselves and the future generation =D P5 teaches us that we don't need special powers to do it. So the game implies something really fucked up in the depths of mementos but doesn't outright say it. All the people who's hearts you've stolen are down here. The only people who aren't are your confidants, who believe in the phantom thieves. We see from palace one to the end that the protagonists always managed to convince their targets that they were wrong and should become better people. But we also stole their treasure. But the palaces had begun to crumble before you managed to take the treasure and after you convinced the people that they were wrong. What I think this implies is that the protagonists aren't stealing people's distorted desires but are instead stealing their wills of rebellion. Think about it. Futaba awakened her Persona by joining with her shadow. Persona's are the manifestation of a person's will of rebellion. After she awakened her Persona, the treasure went missing. She became the treasure. Its implied that the reason that the bad guys all confessed was because you stole their heart, but if you actually instead stole their will of rebellion. That would explain why they all go and confess their crimes as well. Not from guilt, because if it really was guilt, then why wouldn't they all liquidate their assets and try to help people first and atone before throwing themselves in jail. Instead, they turn themselves in because they begin to adhere and follow societies laws. All the targets you went after usually hid inside their respective bedrooms for a few days before they turn themselves in. But after waking up from her nap, Futaba is perfectly okay. The other palace rulers went and hid for a few days because they were so used to disobeying society that they were confused as to what they were supposed to do with themselves. But Futaba still had a will of rebellion and instead managed to convince herself that she was wrong in hating herself. That would also explain why Sae and Mishima isn't there. You didn't steal their treasure, but just convinced them that he was wrong. Then again, the rest of the mementos targets weren't there either so that last one is just conjecture. At the end of the game, Yaldaboath vanishes after realizing the might of and hope of humanity in the form of Satanael. Morgana doesn't so much steal Mementos treasure as much as he just tapped it and gave it back to humanity. Gave them back their wills of rebellion. This is all just a hypothetical theory, but it feels to me like that is what the game is implying.

@cunuduh8794 жыл бұрын
I agree with some points, but Personas and Shadows are not the will of rebellion, rather they are the true self, a side of yourself you hide from the public. But the main cast's true selves were their feeling of rebellion, which they had hid from others, just like the P4 cast's hidden secrets. I personally think that their distortions are within the Treasure, but when you defeat the shadow, I think they and their secrets get reunited with the real person and they realise their mistakes, which force them into an apathy.

Once you get near the second descend, the game gives you a wonderful view of the same hellish red glow along with massive structures that look like ribcages and those veins once again, and by the time you enter the Mysterious Shrine, those ribcages are *everywhere.* Even at the very start of the Path of Iwereth, there are gigantic bones that look like ribcages, and the railways themselves being made of bones instead of wood and steel once the players reached halfway through Mementos was a clear sign of what was to come.

Well, hm, let's think, was it the right thing to change their hearts? Hm... In Futaba's case, yes, obviously, In Sae's case, yes, obviously, Kamoshida was serial sexual abuser with no hope of recovery and would've expelled us if he didn't, so yes, Madarame was abusing students, stealing work, plagiarising, and would've called the cops on us, so yes, Kaneshiro was a literal crime Lord and left us with actually no other choice, so yes, Shido was murdering people left and right with Akechi, so yes, Okumura, well, things didn't go so well for him or us after that, so maybe that one really was a tactical error, but mostly, that wasn't our fault, that was Akechi's doing, we were mostly trying save Haru, prevent the exploitation of thousands of employees, and catch Akechi, so, maybe not, but for reasons outside of our ability to predict or control. Yeah, I'd say it was the right thing to do.
@GoIdheart5 жыл бұрын
@@tuckermatis1572 In the context, it means "was it a good idea to remove their desires?" Without new ones to change them, they had nothing. Futaba and Sae had those desires replaced, so they didn't end up like the others. Sae's became a desire to seek out true justice, while Futaba wanted to avenge her mom. They both rose against a cruel and unfair world, and while the current villains did those cruel and unfair things, maybe they could've been redeemed too. If we had a way to replace their Treasures with ones that couldn't corrupt, we could instill a sense of hope in them like we did with the general public. They had to be stopped, but what they got sent back to is the reason why they became the way they did in the first place. Ultimately, the Phantom Thieves just wanted to end suffering, and they did, so in the end, they did the right thing.

Persona 3, 4 and 5 spoilers ahead! I like how the Persona games always make you accomplish the opposite of what you are trying, but only let you know towards the end, when the thing you've tried to avoid has already reached the level of a god. Persona 3: You fight the 12 Shadows and long to defeat all of them so that the Dark Hour disappears and the Shadows can't "kill" (the victims do end up braindead) any more people, but in doing so give Nyx, the God of death, it's power back, practically dooming all of mankind. Persona 4: The whole game, you and your party are looking for the truth. You find two false culprits along the way and when, towards the end, you finally find the true killer, you're starting to realize the whole truth: That nobody WANTS to realize the truth. They'd rather live a lie and look away from pain and suffering. Persona 5: You take down all kinds of oppressors that treat people like slaves to try and give them courage and a chance at freedom. But in doing so, you make them rely on YOU instead. You make them want to further dedicate their lives to someone else's path and don't give them a single bit of courage. Basically, what modern Persona games show us about humanity is that instead of facing pain and suffering they run away. Be it through death, self deception or giving up their freedom, people don't want a good life: They just want an easy one. Only if you face hardships: Loss, Truth or Oppression, can you really discover your *true* self.

@Fabiocean20005 жыл бұрын
@@smugsuphia7846 It's not exactly that, but it was a very likely result of it. The Phantom Thieves robbed their victims of all their desires, which left them as a human being without any motivation or aspirations. The reason Futaba and Sae didn't end up in there was because the Phantom Thieves gave them new hope themselves, but the others had to confess everything and got punished for it, believing that desires are inherently bad and just following others without any self-agency was the way to go. Before Kamoshida's palace was raided, Morgana told us about this, he said that people without desires have no reasons to live, possibly leaving them suicidal. The only reason this didn't happen was because they were "reformed", even though the only thing that changed was that they knew they couldn't atone for their sins with their death alone, so they accepted whatever punishment they got, in other words gibing up all self-agency and conforming to the masses. That made them the exact kind of person who imprisoned themself in Mementos. If the Phantom Thieves had looked for the culprits and tried to help them after their breakdown, they may have been able to reform them properly.

It's amazing how reflective and thoughtful this song really is. The title: "Freedom and Security." They're complete opposites and the antithesis of each other, yet the contrast works in this sense. You could view it as being free and secure in the literal sense that you can live how you want without fear (which is Persona 5's overarching message). However, when the Phantom Thieves reach metaphorical 'Hell', they begin to realise that by freeing people of their sins, they are in fact encouraging others to give up on changing themselves. This enforces the idea that individual change is impossible, and that someone should instead wait to be 'saved' instead of taking control of their lives. Thus, they reach a twisted sense of freedom by entrusting their security to a higher power and relinquishing control as the nature of taking risks is to threaten one's security. If someone need not make any decisions for themselves, they see being imprisoned to an institution or a god as a worthwhile trade-off. And here we come to the state of society. The apathetic nature of humans means that much of our society is not concerned with making their own decisions, as they believe being cast out is a worse fate than taking an unpredictable leap of faith. We'd rather ride the same train every day for decades because we're told to than question what is really important to us. This is especially relevant in the context of Japan where it is socially expected that one must adhere to conformity, with many too scared to venture into the unknown and ask why. This facade of normality being what we should strive for is reflected in the song: it is relaxing yet eerily repetitive, with the intermittent escape of a lone guitar - almost begging for us to snap out of our trance. The last dungeon and its music is the culmination of Persona 5's ideas. The hopelessness of a society trapped in our own ways as we are too frightened to break the status quo and question what we should really be seeking. Without the reassuring blanket of a purpose, such as collecting our paycheck and finally getting that white picket fence, what are we going to do with our life? That's the scariest thing. If we don't settle for following the direction of society and accepting mediocrity, we run the risk of turning out as failures and outcasts. Being poor. Unwanted by others. Wandering aimlessly with no orders. Yet if we don't ask these questions and have faith in ourselves, we may never reach true happiness. I hope all of us Persona lovers discover our individualism and strive for what we really want out of life. Find what matters and fight for it.

Though I agree in the present, it just means that we must be creative. Find a way which makes us independent yet helpful to others, while bypassing modern problems. Without it being at the cost of ourselves. We must also spread awareness to that fact and (that’s the hard part) snap them out of said sloth, as we don’t want them to just shrug it off.
@lukestone41644 жыл бұрын
@@splnter648 I don't think even awareness is enough. It's even explored in the game when the Phantom Thieves release the truth about Shido, but nobody actually wants to actually acknowledge it, even if they are made aware. Instead, they'd rather forget the hard truths and live blind to it, because ignorance can be bliss. Honestly, I wouldn't even blame anyone for this since reality really is rough and often just depressing. We are usually happier when we're not thinking about such things. That's why the Phantom Thieves come to the conclusion that the world is better without the metaverse and people ultimately need to come to their own decision on what they think is best. All we can do is educate people so that they have the chance to make these choices in the first place. The education system shouldn't dismiss philosophy or politics. In fact, I feel like these things are perhaps purposefully neglected in order to keep people from having opinions. Instead, we're taught useless facts in history without hearing as much about the actual philosophies and ideas of (often, very smart and progressive) historical figures. But I agree with the rest. We need to start living for ourselves and find our own meanings. Structure is not for everybody, and some very creative people are stifled by it. However, there are also people who are more efficient with some kind of structure in their life. It would be ideal if there was a modern solution which was flexible for both types of people. I don't think anybody should feel forced to go against the grain if it's not who they are, and vice-versa.

The final parts of the game succeeded really well in giving you a sense of dread. Mementos looked strange but then in the final 3 layers there was imagery of blood, gore, bone structure and whatnot. It left the impression that mementos is a living, breathing place. And seeing this what yusuke would call “an assault on the senses” take over reality as well as seeing our characters in a state of immense fear and hopelessness is absolutely amazing at strengthening the dread you are meant to feel. The scenery is hellish, the main cast’s situation is hellish.

In the first teaser trailer for this game, there are chairs and shackles holding them down. This dungeon, showing humanity in those same chains, tells us gamers in our chairs that “You are slave, want emancipation?” This dungeon is a warning to us. The final palace shows us proof of our oppression, and the trailer poses a question that gives us a choice: to reform society like the Phantom Thieves did, or remain safely in our seats, forever held down to a harmful mentality by our own ignorance. That is the message I believe this whole part is trying to convey to us.

Pramila Gandhi True, but technically its only Tokyo. Its themes can be applied to most other places in our reality, but the whole idea of being packed into subway trains and shuffling off to work in a huge crowded city with apathy towards this oppressive system is kinda supposed to be a commentary about Tokyo. Nothing against Japan, but trains, commuters, crowded places, and quiet (supposed) indifference are things that are kinda unique to them, specifically the combination of these things at once.

PlasmaTempest39 While this story is centered around Tokyo, it’s the same thing with others as well. To limit this and only say it applies to japan and their culture is not entirely true is all I was trying to say. This perfectly encapsulates the despair of the situation the Thieves find themselves in as well as the area itself. Totally devoid of free will or choice any who dare enter the depths of Mementos. The thieves themselves are trapped in the sense that they cannot leave the palace as they have no idea when the authorities will arrive to arrest them. It almost feels like everything they’ve been through up to this point has been for nothing, they have no assured measures of escape or triumph at this point, all they can do is blindly plunge into the dark depths of this bleak underworld hoping for redemption.

Context is everything. listening to the song as a song, it's pretty calming. listening to it in the bad ending it sounds like good has been defeated. Listening to it in the final dungeon, it sounds hopeless, as if the end is coming. When you hear it there, It's not a heroic song of resistance like in final dungeons of other games, but one of quiet acceptance and willful submission.

While I may identify with maruki’s palace more this one definitely makes me feel responsible for all the failures I’ve done, the almost complete immobility to escape an extreme pain that slowly encroaches on my location… it just makes me feel so much Guilt for my inactions, my fear of being an outcast overwhelming what I need to do as a human being and knowing just how painful yet easy it is to succumb to this sensation… it’s like being slowly crushed to death but by the weight of your own sins instead of someone else’s decisions. Maruki resembles the determination to prevent suffering while sacrificing himself to it all… by becoming a Self sacrificing god he abandons his humanity for the greater good only to force himself to go through unimaginable levels of suffering for the sake of preventing suffering… by preventing the suffering of many he has to go through equivalent exchange which means he experiences all the pain, while if Maruki was successful the world would be better as a whole, it would not allow growth… Maruki may be selfless and kind, his determination to help others being far stronger than his fear of isolation from even the most loved ones, this determination will not last forever as at some point Maruki may end up just like a being trapped in the holy grail’s influence… the exceptional desire to help others being so potent that the belief that one will stay true to their beliefs in eternity is unlikely… we are all prone to falling into the same metaphysical cage that society is trapped in by the fear of breaking the status quo/ unwillingness to break it. Unfortunately these cages are meant to bind one’s will to achieve true freedom, however these cages can be broken, it just requires the determination to break free from traditional bindings. You can do it my friends, we cannot be bound by chains that only cause us suffering. Break free from societal constraints and norms as they are meant to confine a will to exist as a genuine human being

Coming here the day after election night. This is where I feel our country is, the ignorant masses continue to support a madman who despises the unique things that the people have to offer up, and will enrich his own life at the cost of all others. Vanity of Vanities, all is vanity. But we still have the potential to rid ourselves of our twisted desires. We just have to wait until the time is right, for the masses to awaken to their situation, and together we might take our heart. I love how soothing this theme is, not because of how it sounds but because of what it makes you feel. Since Mementos represents the sin of sloth, this theme acts like a Siren call to everyone in the prison. They know where they are, but what’s the point of breaking free? Especially if the rest of the public is there with them. This actual theme is very short and repetitive, and even catchy, because it’s meant to be a very simple tune that hypnotises you and runs in the back of your head with no extra effort. The song‘s length represents the short attention span and impatience of city-dwellers. It restarts before your mind wanders too far.

This place was so well done. The people mumbling “I feel so safe” was super eerie, and the veins running through it made it feel so disgusting and sinister
@onefairy31426 жыл бұрын
To me, this song always left a harrowing feeling in my gut, especially with how the palace was portrayed. The constantly pulsating imagery, the eerie blood red glow.. coupled with the music, it strangely made me feel conscious of my own heartbeat, probably because of how this palace just so happens to resemble that of a huge conglomeration of veins. It was honestly such an unsettling experience as it left quite a disturbing impression of me yet it is also because of this strange atmosphere that lead to me loving how pretty well established the dungeon came out to be. That’s SUPPOSE to be how it should feel. Oppressive. Sinister. Foreboding. I could practically hear the alarm bells ringing in my head.

it was bittersweet when you finish a persona game; it's like waking up from a dream that lasted 40 years and everyone you got to know and the strong bonds you got to make and the adventures you have completed were only figments of your imagination. You wake up, knowing that its all over, but only you have documentation of what really happened. Then life continues, unable to return, and it's just hard to say goodbye. "Do you want to live forever"? Maybe, but everything must come to an end.

I've always loved RPGs, and yet I always felt like none were scratching the extremely specific itch I wanted. Then Persona 5 Royal came to the Switch and I got to play it, and I was absolutely blown away. While I have yet to play any other Persona game, this game right here has to be the best game I have ever played, bar-none. When I got to this point in the game, the atmosphere and this music alongside the context of what led to this point...it captivated me to a point I didn't think was still possible with some of the games I've played. @seansean7924 жыл бұрын
Calm, yet eerie. Mellow, not upbeat. You can listen to it for awhile. Gives you that final dungeon feel. Feels like your marching to confront the enemy. Yet at the same time you can listen to it while lounging around your very home. Your very room. Males you wanna just relax, maybe get some work done, but definitely not play a fast paced video game. If you couldn't tell by all the other comments that talk about it already... it suits the idea of a prison you willing sit in regardless of what happens around you very well. It gives off the vibe of a calm, relaxing and safe strong hold. Yet for those who refuse to sit behind bars of their own mind... it sounds quite eerie, almost creepy givin the fact of the scenery around you, listening to those who wish to do no more than sit around and wait for what the world orders them to do next, without wanting to do anything for themselves. Yeah, you've probably already read what I've said somewhere else here 1,000 times, considering how far down in the comments mine probably is.

You can really feel the palace’s message through the music in this palace. This is why I would say that palaces like Maruki’s or Futaba’s are the best because you can hear the emotion within the music but with other palace themes or whims of fate, it rather matches the vibe of a palace.
