How do you go from (e^kt)(e^C) to Ce^kt? I see how you go from e^kt+C to (e^kt)(e^C) as I am familiar with that rule of exponents, but not the second step/transformation. How did you get Ce^kt? EDIT: Okay, I see. The "C" is a constant, so e^C is a constant also, and replaced with just "C"

what happened to the other +c at 2:54? shouldn't ln(p) have a +c term b/c no limits?
@jellymath2 жыл бұрын
Yes it should! Except... the constant IS in the equation already. The constant in an indefinite integral could be any value, because we don't know it. so for example, here: f(x) + C = g(x) + D let us say, that C and D are some constants we don't know the value of. Then the expression "f(x) + C = g(x) + D" can actually be written as: f(x) + C - C = g(x) + D - C (subtracting 'C' form both sides) or f(x) = g(x) + D - C And since D - C is also just a constant, we can write it as a single one, for example 'E' E = D - C then f(x) = g(x) + E which is the same as f(x) = g(x) + C Also, we can write a solution to an indefinite integral as this: integral of (2x) with respect to x = x^2 + C or x^2 + C + D or even x^2 + C + D + E + F + G + H + I + J + K *because the constants can kind of "sum up" into a single constant* Therefore we don't need a constant on both sides of the equation, since the constant value we increase it by (+C) "takes care" of all constant-additions we may wanna do on our expression You might have noticed I only said "increase" and "(+C)". Remember, the constant (C) can also be a negative number! It can be a positive number! It can be an imaginary number! It's just more convenient to write "+C" than "-C", though the latter is just as correct. I know this response is kind of late, but maybe someone else will find it useful and I'm bored
@rdxxn_8 ай бұрын
@@jellymath You were right in saying that someone else would find it useful, this is the exact thing i was looking for. Thank you for the in depth explanation.

Really good. However, the problem is that this presupposes that the data actually can be fitted by an exponential, since only the value of P at 2001 is used to calculate k......why not the values of P at 2002, 2003 etc.
@failedsave17885 жыл бұрын
So what do you do if you aren't given P(0), and instead given P(2) or a different one? How do you find P(0)/C?

Help with this one. The population of a city was 125000 in 1940 and 68 years later, in 2008, it was 625000,so, the city is 5 times the size. If the population grows at the same rate, when will the population be 3125000?
