Literally, I went to every single lecture and asked questions/went to office hours,, But the minute I stopped going to class and filled that time with these videos and the textbook my grades went way up lol, my teacher is crap, not to mention she gave us the wrong formulas for a bunch of things
@jasonlshadow17507 ай бұрын
@@Practicalinvestmentsreally hate that so many others have similar situations with the classes. For me, I had to take online calculus, and my professor just responds to emails by adding a few words to a copy-paste reply. Never answers questions, nevers helps out anyone, and has us use a textbook that is way too complicated and lazy. By which I mean, the definitions explain things terribly and vaguely, and the examples are like 1 + 2 = 3. Meanwhile, the exercises and hw ask us extravagent and complicated problems, none of which are ever explained or solved to let us see or practice anything. So annoying haha

@@jasonlshadow1750 I'm in same boat, our lecturer doesn't even respond to emails, and they've dropped literally the whole of differential calculus on us expecting us to prepare for an exam in 2 weeks.

If we change the interval to [2, 3] for f(x) = |4x - 5|, then we can apply the MVT and we find f'(x) = 4 = [f(3) - f(2)]/[3 - 2] So, 4 = [|7| - |3|]/[3 - 2] = 4. This is true. But what value of c satisfies this condition? All c in (0, 4) according to the MVT and as it so happens in this case for c = 2 and c = 3 as well.

This might be a dumb question but on the last the last example, wouldn't f(x) be discontinuous at ×=4 b/c the limit as x-> 4 DNE?
@Anonymous-rn2vk3 жыл бұрын
At the endpoints of [a, b], *one-sided* continuity is sufficient to say f(x) is continuous over the entire interval (assuming it's continuous everywhere else too). Regarding your question, since the interval is [4, 8], we only require continuity from the right hand side of 4. And hence we can use MVT in this case :)
