for anyone wondering how to get it in meters: 6.626E-34 J*s is equivalent to 6.626E-34 kgm^2/s, which should cancel out units and leave you with meters

you need to use the fact that 1J= 1kg m^2/s^-2 to write Planck's constant as h = 6.626x10^-34 kg m^2/s^2 * s cancel both "s" it will be h = 6.626x10^-34 kg m^2/s

I have a question for you. In =h/mv if v=0 the relation in meaningless. But I could have a speed low enough to have the object have a visible light wavelenght. For instance, if I weight 70 kg and I move at 1.4 x 10(-29) m/s my wavelenght would be (circa) 663 nm. Does it make sense?

At 5:30,planck's constant joules is kg m²/s² ,then that wavelength is in meters which will only cancel out the m² in planck's constant,how did the s² got converted to s...making it m/s
@sonnajensen48245 жыл бұрын
What happens to the kg? Why does the final answer only have units of meters? I know it wouldn't make sense to have kg in a wavelength measurement but I thought units only canceled if they were were present in both the numerator and denominator.
@uhuihiuihiuh30425 жыл бұрын
You're right, it's always good practice to show the units in your calculations so you can analyze if your answer makes sense. Recall that the SI units of a joule are kg*m^2/s^2 Therefore the units of Planck's constant are [J*s] = [kg*m^2*s/s^2] The kg in Planck's constant divides out with the kg from the mass and you will end up with an answer in meters.
