MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for calculating the Area of a Triangle using Heron's Formula. These videos are fun.

Is there a video on how to solve the following type of problem? "A triangle has area = 12964. Find the measure of the angle formed by sides measuring 225 and 139. (There are two answers)" My math professor sucks and doesn't teach us half the stuff he quizzes and tests us on. I love your videos.

Sir you said in previous video that for SAS triangles we can use law of cosines??? Would the answer be same by both methods because I'm not getting the right answer by law of cosines method

Sorry for the late reply, but I think you are confusing solving a triangle and finding the area. For area you may use law of cosines to find a needed side/angle if you are not given enough information in order to find the area, but as far as I am aware, you wouldn't use the Law of Cosines to find the area itself. Hopefully this helps!

But using Pythagorean Theorem, the Area is 12. How does that work? 3^2+b^2=5^2, b=4, 4*6=24, 24/2=12

no i make mistake in my quiz my teacher said if you dont have a side like ssa use the law of cosine but i use this to get the other side of triangle so i use this formula first A^2= 25^2+20^2 -2(20) (25) Cos(30) equal to 866.03 and then i squareroot the 866.03 the answer is 29.43 so this is the other side of triangle so then i use heron 1/2(20+25+29.43) =37.22 then A= Square root 37.22(37.22-20) (37.22-25) (37.22-29.43) the area of the angle is 247.01 thats my final answer i guess i am wrong because my teacher said if the area is 2 side and 1angel use law of cosine i thought that my teacher said use law of cosine ro get the other side so it will 3 side and apply the herons formula sorry for wrong grammar

I have to take back my reply. I forgot that SAS triangle only refers to a triangle with a given of 2 sides with the angle in between the two. I WAS WRONG. To take the area of SSA: first, you need to use the law of sines to solve for the missing angles and potentially the third side. After that, with all the sides and angles known, you can now use the formula for SAS or you can use Heron's formula assuming that you got all the sides figured.
