50:43 I find it amazing the Nissan Dealers have no idea about this filter. Even parts claims it didn't exist until I gave them the part #. My guess is only gearheads are actually changing it so I wonder if it really impacts failure. I didn't push it as I figure if they have never done the job it will probably leak, tear my 11 year old hoses, etc I have a 2013 with 70K, CVT fluid only done at 48K .................all is good so far

Appreciate the comment. Mileage was mentioned in the video a few times, @1:01 & @7:24 for example. Was 101k.

Inner filter looks like a metal screen mesh. Carefully clean and reinstall.

So if I put a different fluid in would it just mess it up I’m confused instead of the Nissan cvt fluid
@TheOriginalBeeCee13 күн бұрын
You can utilize other fluid without issues. But I’m sure there are some fluids both worse & better than OE, so if you do its something I would be careful with. Personally I prefer just utilizing OE CVT fluid
@LM77va14 күн бұрын
Some cars don't have a drain plug. You have to loosen the bolts around the pan and catch the fluid as it spews out. It can be a mess, but if that plug is stuck that may be your only route.

I got a 2009 nissan murano & i got the same filter under the transmission pan & I just pulled it off & cleaned it with brake cleaner & let it dry, then put it back on. Nissan didnt even have the right filter.
@TheOriginalBeeCee23 күн бұрын
Yeaa, that seems to be the best option if you want to service it.

Why not give WD40 a try?

I mean I could of…but after the initial fight with the drain plug I wasnt anticipating, just kinda felt a bit too late for that lol

The trans guy on the gram said 20K
@TheOriginalBeeCee2 ай бұрын
That’s perfectly fine if thats his suggestion and/or that’s how often you want to do it. I’m certainly not opposed. Hell you can do it every 5k with the oil change if you want. As I outlined in the end of the video every 30k is my opinion, and most vehicles that utilize CVT’s (not just Nissan) suggest 30k intervals. Especially if it has or is being regularly maintained, 30k is a good interval to start with….but as I also said in the video that could be subjective to the condition of the transmission and/or the prior maintenance. If you are inspecting the fluid regularly and it looks really dark/deteriorated prior to 30k, nothing wrong with getting it out of there and replacing it!

Right that's my thought u almost need to drop the pan to get all of the fluid out my gf car has 230,000 and fluid has only been changed once no filter cause according to her ex-husband there isn't an external filter and yet her old one messed up after she had the fluid changed for the 2nd time at 200000+ I don't remember how many miles was on it it's still in the driveway but the battery is dead but other than that everything is good but the trans and it is an 09 and the one I'm about to do the fluid on now is a 2010 and she says just the fluid now I almost don't wanna do it cause I'm not screwing it up and getting blamed for it and yes it was an excellent video I know now I'm not about to do it at 12 at night in November either thank u

Pretty stupid design by Nissan that the drain plug sits an inch or so above the bottom of the pan.
