Today marks 4 months of being away from my abuser. This song woke me up big time. If it continued I would've been dead, or wound up like this. I left with the clothes on my back, and it was the best decision of my life♥️ I'm so grateful for every day I wake up safe, and free.

I grew up with a father who would beat up his own wife and daughters. For years I spent my life locked up in my room sneaking out the window which was on the second floor (yes I'd still jump out) not caring about the impact. Years went by and my father ended up kicking my mother out of our home. My father was an active soldier so as soon as he was sent out of the country my mom took my sister and I with her. I was 9 years old at the time and I am 15 now. This song really made me cry. My mom had to deal with him longer than I have. I have no idea how she could do it but now she even got her name back and I'm glad. Thank you for this amazing song. You guys truly are amazing.

Not to take away from the meaning behind the song yet it needs to be said that this track has one of the greatest productions ever. The levels, audio field, ear candy are all top notch! There are certain subtle aspects that beautifuly accentuate the emotions of the song and I absolutely love it. For me, this is masterfully done piece of art!

I was given up for adoption when I was 12. I remember being adopted and day dropping a plate breaking it by accident. I just manned up and walked up to my new mother and raised up a sleeve so she could burn me with a cigarette. I just thought being starved and being hurt was normal. I still have the burns but I'm better now. This song made me weep like a baby. Thank you.

@Stuckgrenadepin Dude, come on! Nobody is saying men aren't victims of violence. Same way they're not saying there isn't starvation in Africa and Tsunamis in Indonesia and that those issues don't need attention. The topic of this video happens to be about female victims of domestic violence. I don't see why this makes you angry.

It’s hard for people that have never dealt with domestic violence to understand the impact felt by the victims. I was diagnosed with long term severe PTSD from all the trauma I experienced as a victim of domestic violence, many look at me as I am on bullshit. They also victim shame. There is so much ignorance still regarding domestic violence, people don’t understand the dynamics of it all, they don’t understand how victims can stay in the situation and not just leave. They don’t understand how it scars you for life. I normally never post on public sites as I have zeros tolerance for ignorant comments that come from those looking for attention by replying hateful comments but I thought just maybe someone might read and know they are not alone in their suffering from the aftermath of DV. Stay strong you are survivor wether you are still in the situation or have escapes. Believe you deserve better that you are not the POS your abuser has made you believe you are.

My Mom left me at 3 over drug abuse and my Step mom abused me at 4 until 11 and im only 13. Didn't tell my Dad till I was 8-9 when we drove to pickup some pizza and broke down crying. Had a whole mental breakdown and than he explained how he felt something was up especially after she started getting into violent arguments with him. I have OCD, Depression, and PTSD. I don't know what caused the OCD but the PTSD and Depression was definetly from the beating and screaming. I go into panic attacks that end with a mental breakdown and I get angry at tge littlest things. My Dad got into another toxic relationship with a liar with drinking problems. Idc about drinking problems as the people should be supported on beating the problem but she has wronged me and my sister to the point I hope she dies. Wrecked her car with my sister in it while drunk driving, told different stories to different people and when my Dad got told the truth about an event he sticks to her story instear of the truth. Want him to dump her and move on but love doesn't work like that so it isn't likely. He's very love blind. I just hope that life starts to be easy and happy again like it was before the abuse when me and my sister and step siblings would play outside, before my step moms true colors came out. Life took a turn for the worse but like the B.M.T.H vid. "Every Scar Will Build My THRONE" and we will all use these scars as a learning experience to forgive and forget, to live not die, and to fight when needed. We are stronger than we feel and doubt and embarrassment can't stop us. We are better than the ones that wrong us.

This song to me is a call to arms to stand up against unreasonable violence in any walk of life. Key word unreasonable. There are moments where someone needs to be put on the ground, but anytime you do that, you must keep a clear head so as not to go overboard and only act in defense of yourself and others.

The first time i heard this song was at their concert about a week after it came out. people complain about a pop sound but the message is so much more important. this song had a room full of grown adults either on the verge of tears or crying. artist change, they mature, the sound they make will change. this song represents so much that even if you dont like their new sound you should just be able to respect them for maturing as artists and for telling a story that needs to be heard.

Never been abused, never witnessed abuse in my home, but the visuals of abuse make me burn under my collar. Sherman, set the wayback machine to my teen years; Back when I was a teen, in highschool, I was on my way out to the bus parking when I saw a heated argument between what I assumed to be a boyfriend and girlfriend. I didn't pay it much mind, was none of my business. Suddenly his hand went up and slapped her across the face, she started crying. Something snapped in me. I approached the guy, fist clenched, but he didn't see me coming cause he was still focused on yelling at her. My fist went flying just as he noticed me approach. One hit and the glass jaw punk of a loser went down. If he wasn't out cold I seriously would have put the fear of God into him at that moment. The girlfriend, of course, went to his defense and was all over him crying because I knocked him out. I got taken to the office where I recounted the whole thing to the principal, who I had always found to be nice yet authoritative. The principal told me off the record I did a good job, handed me a "time served" detention, and sent me to go home on the late bus. That was the extent of my punishment for fighting at school. The girlfriend's parents got called and informed of what happened. She was set up with an out-of-school councilor. Apparently she arrived at home more than once with "injuries" but she had always told her parents they were due to volleyball practice. The "boyfriend" got suspended for a month. They couldn't do anything more because nothing beyond what I witnessed that day could actually be proven. That next week the girl changed schools on the advice of her councilor. I kept in touch with the girl for over a year, she hadn't seen the "boyfriend" since that day and stayed single for months. I saw the ex-boyfriend when he returned to the school after his suspension, and he did his best to never catch me eye-to-eye. She got some delight in knowing that he was spending his senior years living in fear... lol ...The girl eventually found someone at her new school who treated her like a goddess. We grew apart over the years, but I know that today she's an RPN and married (different guy, but treats her like a queen) with two beautiful teenage kids. Am so happy her life has turned out good. I don't consider myself a hero but I often wonder how her life would have turned out if I hadn't taken action that day. Would she have left him on her own? Would someone else have stepped in if I hadn't? I dunno... I'm just glad I did, and I hope others do the same when they see something like this taking place.

Only problem is that even when people know the abuse is occurring nobody wants to believe or if they do don't understand the real life altering effects of it and abuser is overlooked. The message was she felt it worth blowing the monster away even if it meant prison * freedom* he won't be able to hurt anyone else. The woman in this video is a hero
@avab1733
@avab1733 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. That's why I mentioned that no one cares until it's too late. Meaning that the people around the abuse see what's going on but fail to act. They play the "willfully ignorant role" because they don't want to get involved. Which is why things like the abuser killing thier victim, or the victim becoming so desperate to stop the violence that they take matters into their own hands and kill thier abusers. Only then, do the bystanders decide to have opinions and feelings about what happened. It's the same way with suicide. When or if a depressed and suicidal individual actually gets the courage to ask for help, they are often told that they are attention seeking and told to suck it up, they don't have a reason to be acting that way, treated as a burden and basically dismissed. Only when the person takes thier life does anyone take them seriously. Then its obviously too late. In both situations the individual is looking for freedom. It's very sad but it is the world we live in.

THEORY do it again! I have never disliked a song by this band. I discovered you in 2012 when I was just 14 years old. I know every single song. No band is like you. No band gives me the feelings TOAD give me. The emotional connection I have with your songs. You've helped me through so much. I'm 21 now and this November I am going to see you in London. I can finally afford to and an opportunity has finally presented itself. Excitement is a total understatement! Sure, you've changed your songs but I've embraced the new you. People need to accept something for what it is, not what it was. If you don't like their new music, don't listen. Stop complaining! They've been making music for coming on 20 years, so of course it's expected they'll want to change it up a bit! Once again, awesome job THEORY. I can't wait for November and 31st January 2020!!

watch their next album will be heavy metal and they'll whine that their songs aren't poetic or meaningful enough. Or they're too emo. I guarantee they mostly changed their sound because enough people didn't like how they sounded before!!! How do you please everyone? They wouldn't have made a song like this if they didnt know there was an audience for it.

It’s been a long time since I listened to Theory of a Deadman, and back then I only really knew maybe 2 songs. I keep seeing comments about how they moved to pop and I do recall those 2 songs I listened to being somewhat heavier than this. But I don’t think this song qualifies as having a “pop” sound; soft rock sure, but maybe only the beginning sounds somewhat pop. And more than that, I feel for the message they aimed for with this song, regardless of the kind of sound they have now.

Time keeps passing by, it seems I'm frozen still, in this blackness and this roaring of voices that don't turn down the volume in my head, messages different but always the same, seems like darkness with voices calling to me, with pain of scars left behind from something, really real that happened, husband almost kills his wife bc he's jealous of her furthering her own knowledge and increasing her own vibration, he instantly fights her on this bc he is a wee little man held back in the sands of time, with guilt and and degrees of adultery to their precious world, until it crumbles at his feet and she flees instantly fighting, not flighting, for her own life away from him, a new beginning, a new life, I love my life now that I'm not being mentally abused and now that I'm in a non domestically non violent household finally I get to live in and be free in and who better to do it with, y'all always get me thru, no matter what it is, I just tune into radio station and all my troubles fade and I'm healed!!! love you guys❤️💕❤️😍🙌🏠✍🆓➡🚫

This is one of my favorite tunes at the moment. I grew up as a child of an abusive marriage, watching my dad beat the shit out of my mom on a daily basis. Eventually she got the courage to get out of the relationship, but nothing will ever change for us kids that grew up with this as something we thought was normal. The history of violence was normal for the innocent.

Wow, the idea of comparing the relationship between two people to a city works really well here. Its like, "Look what you've done. You've destroyed the beautiful city you once had. You have created a place where fear, intimidation, and violence are the only communicators. In your selfishness, you have crafted a sickness with no easy cure. A draining, pain in her that may never go away. You have chosen this, and you will pay for it." So important.....

It is a lonely as a DV survivor. I used to think I would never be that "girl" either until I too became that girl. It took me only 2 months after getting involved with my abuser and I wrote in a journal that someday he was going to try and kill me. It took a total of 10 months of torture, threats and more for him to finally stab me and then after fleeing thousands of miles, a name change and leaving everything and everyone 8 ever knew behind. Just because the abuser is behind bars does not always mean it stops either no matter what a person does. Flung into a world I never knew existed except in movies, noone believed me when I did try to ask for help, at some point I knew I was going to have to get out on my own, take drastic measures. It's so hard when noone will listen until it's to late. Even now despite all precautions and steps measures taken. I have become a sitting duck, cut break lines, rerouted heater core hoses and more, took my ability to run away if need be. Seldom does anyone who hasn't been through it realize not only physical damage we go through and the emotional, but the mental strength it takes to stay focused and the financial cost. I wish for solidarity, I wish for peace, never has a song hit home in a way this did... It's so hard to breath. Hanging by a thread
