I just got out of rehab and this is the first song I listened to. When you really know what this song is about it hits harder than you could ever imagine and I know a lot of people aren't going to read this but if you do. Get clean. Stay clean. It's not worth your life.

He understands this modern life. 😭 Most people understand, to those of you who don't, thank God, you must have a "perfect life". It's a battle, who takes that first drink thinking they'll end up an alcoholic? Gets prescribed xanax thinking they might get dependent on it? Has major surgery, prescribed pain pills and gets caught in that trap? What was at first a relief, can turn on anyone, and get used to numbing all the pain of life. It's hell to get off. I know! I'm being real here and NOW I know God doesn't hate me, or you. Sometimes it can feel like prayers are ignored, pray anyway, God does hear. With love to all my brothers and sisters who've fought these demons. ❤

I'm not religious, so the last of it was lost to me... But I still think about the highs I got off percocets when I messed up my back... It felt so good to not feel anything physically or mentally as someone who deals with a lot of depression and hate... Just, felt good to feel nothin...

@@jayro4113 that's what got led me to heroin. Don't allow yourself to like that feeling of numb. Because numb turns into a whole new world of hurt when you still feel all the pain and feelings you used to but now you feel the pain of addiction. I'm going on 4 months but it's hard

Think about how long you spent building up that addiction and where it started. You didn't start using the way you use now. You aren't just gonna be able to quit like it's nothing and go back to before. Really think about where you were before you started though, and if you are any sort of addict like I am then it was miles better than where you are now. Be honest with yourself, learn to start focusing on the things that will bring you joy, get sad, its a tool to show you how to guide your life. Stop running, because each time you use you are running from this reality to another one. It is going to take time, work and dedication to get sober but you can do it and that's what you have to know. I can tell you already know you want to be sober, it is just hard. It is worth the effort man, like anything don't be afraid to fail and keep getting back on the horse and getting better. Just keep making those steps in the right direction man. Much love

Before drinking or other things I was extremely depressed. I was depressed for about 5 years before I ever got drunk or high. I don't really remember happiness while being sober beyond 7th grade, I had a great summer that year. Before and after that all I can really remember is darkness. Got drunk for the first time around 15 1/2. I was happy when I started my current relationship but I was still drinking at the time and still do so that doesn't really count on the whole being sober and happy part. Looking from the outside I have a great life, but inside I have a darkness that looms over me. The darkness has been there for almost half a century now. I'm trying to find the root cause to the need to feel numb, it's like an itch that I can't quite scratch that is constantly there.

Buddy Had just had surgery on his foot about the same time and we both just partied for over 3 months... Then the Doc says we're all better and the scripts disappear... Well whatever.....Right...? Nope.... Next part is pretty much self explanatory.. As for the Speed/Downer Combo... It's called a "SpeedBall" The Herion stimulates Dopamine production and causes that wonderfully Numb and Euphoric I dont give a F feeling, nothing can Hurt me Feeling.... But you nod out... So you add an upper to stimulate serotonin production such as adderall or meth to the Mix... After the second time I heard it I was able to actually listen to the words I realized how powerful this song was and how much of a stand against over prescribing drugs (and illegal drug use) this song was taking. SMH at people who think this song is promoting drug use. They're not singing about how drugs are cool and glamorous and fun. The narrator of the song basically says that he's doing drugs because he's bored and that's the only thing that makes him feel good. Those are the words of a cynical, depressed person trapped in a self destructive cycle. People can empathize with that, sure. But anybody who listens to this song, watches the video, and thinks themselves "wow, that sounds awesome! I'm going to go score some oxy right now" is seriously missing the point.

I've experienced worse, such as being forced against my will to take said drug for decades despite the obvious harm it was causing. If i ever go back, I will succeed at suicide next time, and sometimes contemplate it as a means of prevention rather than escape, though I never act upon it, because another failed attempt would lead me right back to the very thing that caused it: forced treatment. The shrinks are literally worse than rapists, because at least when a rapist forces unwanted things unto the bodies and minds of their victims, they don't act like heroes for doing it, nor do they turn the victims entire world against them in favor of the aggressor for the next few decades of the victims life. It is literally brain rape, but worse. I want them all dead.

Yes, but the real question is,, why are we drown like a muffled fart, to fabric, to this song? because, we relat to this fight, of going without, or having, what you feel in your head you need to make the day go away. That's why. I know. This song is a reflection of our lives✌

I am proud of everyone that is clean and sober that had an addiction. if you used to have a problem and now are on the straight and narrow thumbs up or reply. there is more love than hate in this world even though it may not seem like it and u are better alive than dead.

Everybody self medicates....you can overdose on basically everything...sex,drugs,food, water, vitamins etc...even exercising can be used as a form of an addiction ....there is a bigger message to this than "lets get high because I am bored" everyone is an addict to an extent.

Sorry buddy but u can't overdose on everything. if u really think that u can overdose on sex waterand food. That's bout the dumbest thing I've ever heard lmfao. U can cause internal damage if u consume too much water which is called hyponatremia. U can't overdose on sex. It just becomes an addiction but u can't overdose on it. Lmao u can't even overdose on Marijuana. Just gives us extreme anxiety but won't kill ya like lmao

Bryce, your missing the point. It's not about a literal overdose, but an aknowledgement that even "good things" outside of drugs can be overdone, to the point of addiction, which generally speaking is unhealthy. Sure, some things are better to be addicted to than others, but finding some form of balance is the best thing.

Idk just a thought either way Good luck im here for you if you need someone getter sober is hard. But its worth it ive never felt better😊

Somehow the actual music (Not the lyrics, although they say it all.) perfectly captures and reflects my attitude, how I felt on the inside while in the midst of heavy opiate use to numb the emotional and mental pain. I not only hear the music, I feel it. I've been sober for 8 years and still remember all the feelings I had: the craving and reliance, the relief of temporarily numbing myself but causing a whole different pain to myself and others around me, the self-hatred and disgust, the feeling of not living but just existing. Addiction is no joke. I fight it every single day.

The lead singer wrote this song about the over medication of the country after a visit to a therapist. He was going through a divorce and the first thing the therapist wanted to do was prescribe him meds. He refused. That's what prompted him to write this song. On a side note, that scene of the daughter looking at her stoned father kills me.

I thought it would change me in a lot of ways but I don’t feel different. It’s funny though I was having anxiety and told my Doctor about it in hopes of maybe getting some pills for it and sure enough she prescribed me something right away! What a way to solve things…
