I passed my driving test 32 years ago. I've never looked at a highway code book since. I scored 7/10 and it should've been 8. I've never had an accident since gaining my licence. I don't drive like a ***t and I expect other drivers to give me the same courtesy that I give them. Unfortunately, most drivers today are bad, ignorant or just plain dangerous and should be removed from the road.

I got 9/10. That wild animal sign is a hard one if you don’t know it! I love this series of videos. I’m a professional driver. Been doing Hgv 3 years and was doing buses and coach for 9 previous to that. Even when I get one wrong I learn something.

Took PSV with London transport in the 80's had to learn the H/code front to back (including which way the cyclist was indicating on the cover. Left) Got Zebra crossing as pedestrian crossing, but no matter as I'd be alerted to A crossing. Not that that mattered on Oxford St where pedestrians are always dodging through traffic.

I got the first one wrong: I chose pedestrian crossing. But in terms of what I need to do as a driver there is no difference: slow down, look out for pedestrians, and be prepared to stop. And, of course, a zebra crossing is a type of pedestrian crossing…

Same for me. I drove occasionally, as seldom as possible, for a few years, but gave up in 1982 and have never driven any vehicle since. Minimum speed limits mainly seem to be found in tunnels.

@@ThinkDriving some of these signs are incorrectly used on the A417 between Gloucester and Swindon as these are pedestrian right of way crossings over a dual carriageway and definitely not zebra crossings.

Some people have mentioned to me that it is worth learning the difference between the crossing types (Pelican, Puffin, tucan) to aid prediction, because they all work differently, and I guess there is some benefit in it, but as long as you plan for it to change and stop when it's red, I think you'll get by. As an instructor, I'd welcome your thoughts. I got No 1 wrong too. I feel pretty certain that older versions of HWC referred to it and "pedestrians crossing"

@@peterthompson9854 a crossing is a crossing to me. If they're traffic light controlled and people are waiting, the lights are probably about to change. If the crossing has a beacon, the law dictates that the pedestrian has the right of way. And so on. There's no point in charging towards these obstacles and then bemoaning that you had to slam the brakes on. Smith's keys - aim high; get the big picture; keep your eyes moving; leave yourself an out; make sure they see you.

Question 9 the black triangle defines a diversion route where there is a conflicting route ie when there are two road closures and the diversion routes interact with each other one diversion routemay have a triangle the other a circle diamond or square

Me too. I actually thought it mean pedestrian crossing, as it seems to be regularly used in car parks where there are no Belisha poles or zig-zags to designate a full zebra crossing, but that may just be a private land/legal matter. If you do a search, it seems to have both names on many sites that you think would be more definitive, but the Highway Code version is officially Zebra. I'll put this to a friend who owns one of the biggest driving schools in the UK to see what he comes up with - should be interesting...

I passed my driving test on the 26th of May on the 3rd attempt with 2miners not bad for a person who struggles with learning difficulties and yes I found my theory quite hard but I'm finally glad I passed it all all I have to say to people is never give up always keep trying if I can do it with learning difficulties so can you👍

Just a ploy to reduce the numbers of new vehicles on the road, the Hazzard perception for car and motorcycle tests is just weird too, makes almost no sense.

@@rogerfrancis65, while teaching my fiancée to drive several years ago, I got a computer disc for her to use as practice on her theory… I tried a few hazard perception tests, failed the first because I saw way too many hazards… maybe that’s why I’ve not had many collisions of late (last 20yrs) and the two I’ve had were not my fault (Police attended both). Also, one hazard could not bee seen until you could only get 4 ticks (went through frame by frame), and you lost a tick per frame!

I'm afraid you're slightly wrong on number 1. This sign means pedestrians crossing ahead, it generally relates to zebras but not necessarily, it can be a type of safe crossing area as well, there's no actual sign for a zebra crossing believe it or not.

@@ThinkDriving no it's not, I know 2 raods in particular where I see this sign and there is no zebra crossing whatsoever, here's why. On the A1 near Doncaster, there is a sign like this where, believe it or not, there is a place to cross the dual carriage way. The other road where I see this sign is a national speed limit, single carriage way road. No possible option for a zebra crossing on these 2 roads, I should know, I'm a driving instructor. Don't necessarily believe everything you read.
