We're trying out something new for a video! It's a theorycrafting discussion on: Greymane's Champion! It's gonna be a real staple of the upcoming meta, but how do we approach building around it? There's a lot of interesting ideas surrounding this card!

You can think of it this way. There's 5 tribes in each game + neutral tribe. So to see any specific tribe in your tavern, it's roughly a 1/6 chance. Now imagine a new tribe gets introduced, and it's called, "The even tribe". Where it's an additional tribe that gets appended onto 1/2 of all minions in the game. And this tribe has a card that gives +2/+2 to every minion in that tribe, when you play a minion in the tribe. Note: Kalecgos only gives +1/+1 to minions in the tribe, and battlecries are a little less than 1/6 distributed. So half of every minion/spell in the game procs the tribe, and it's 2x more potent than Kalecgos? And you can mix/match existing tribes to get additional synergies? - Yeah, okay. Like, this is good, even without the "broken synergies". Imagine plopping down a 2x better Kalecgos, where half your board is dragons, even though you weren't trying to play dragons at all. And then basically being 100% guaranteed to see 2-3 battlecry minions on every refresh, AND those battlecries are now "dragons" as well. It's game winning, even in a game-state where you have nothing on your board yet, and are just trying to survive / piece together a random comp.

sure, but the followup question is whether playing it like that is worthwhile compared to the field. Is it when there's a lot of 'fair' scaling in the meta? maybe. When people get to be infinite with regularity, though, it's a harder sell. Like old Theotar would be horseshit in current meta with how regularly we're getting to 1000's of stats by turn 12. Now... can we do the same infinite patterns with this card as well? I think so...

@@bofur I think more of the point I was trying to make, is that the comp doesn't need any pre-requisite direction. There's almost no card in the game currently, where you just get 1 copy from any random board-state, and you can immediately pivot and flesh out the comp in 1 turn. Like, I'm imagining a state of the game, where you "should be going 8th". You're 15 health, got onto tavern 5, and have a mid to weak board-state, and you just tripled into a 6. For argument's sake, let's say Demon's are the best tribe in the game at the time. And felbat is the "reason the comp works". You can get offered felbat that turn, but if you don't have 2-3 demons on your board already it's probably not worth it. And you basically only have 1 roll to buy 2 more demons, so picking up the felbat might be too risky, you might not get enough immediate power to use it. So the best play might be to skip the "best card", to pick up quicker power and actually survive. You would probably hope for something like a deathcoiler, and then look to stabalize, and transition/find direction the next turn. Same situation, but with any arbitrary board-state and getting offered Greymane. You're almost guaranteed that 3-4 of your minions are even. You're almost guaranteed that every shop will have 2-3 even cards in it. So even in the "dire position" of 15 health. You can still pick it up, get decent immediate power. AND THEN, since you have that immediate power, you transition easily into the more broken infinite comps. What makes a lot of broken infinite comps hard to get to, is that it requires decent set up, and 1 turn of sacrifice to start ramping up power. With Greymane, you need no set up, you get immediate power, and you can easily transition into the broken comps from there.

You can also use a Treasure Seeker Elise with Recycling Wraith: +1 6 drop (even-tier card) each 5 refreshes. And it also can scaling.

The only other thing i want to think about talking Greymane would be which hero's benefit more with this card, i know it seems obvious but god how many heros are we up to like 57.000?

yeah its ~85. there's only so long you want to ramble on a video. I cut out about 30 minutes while choosing each minion to even consider as cards haha
