I just came from the museum in Reno Nevada today and seen the 1937 Hispano-Suiza one of the best looking cars I’ve seen

the 8 was one of the best engines of WWI. So many were built that they were using them in the late 1920s for production aircraft. Excellent and highly unknown engine.....All aluminum and OHC. Vey high Tech. Often found in the JN-4 and the SPAAD.

OHC is pretty gnarly for it's time..way advanced

Wonderful cars, and the people who own them live in such a nice environment...the landscape the cars drive in in as nice as the cars themselves...

That example she is driving here is from 1912? It seems quite modern for that year. Looks like it could be a 30's era sports car. Both in terms of looks and performance. I guess in my mind i compare everything to Model T's and in doing so i can't help making a mental comparison to a 25 or so T. In doing so it just seems so advanced. It doesn't put or chug like a T but rather look like it would get down the road at a fine clip.

Gregory Timmons ....I guarantee that a Ford Model T would run circles around her car back in the day, more easily repaired, replacement parts much more readily available, cheaper to buy and maintain, etc etc....I'd much rather own that Model T, at least it was made in America....

@@branon6565 The Hispano Suiza Alphonse is much higher performing than the Ford Model T. And see above comments surprised it's from 1912, seems rather to be from the later 1920's, even 30's. That's due to the top quality HSs were engineered and built. They are cruising machines. Famously, the crankshafts were machined from a single billet of steel! The T's were about affordable mass produced efficiency. My ancestors, as yours, owned and drove T's. If they ever heard of HS it was only in a book or mag.

@@ph390 The name says it all: "Hispano-Suiza". The origins of the automobile manufacturer are swiss (Birkigt) and spanish (Mateu), which established the company in La Sagrera, Barcelona, Spain. Hispano-Suiza did eventually expand their business and created a factory in France, in Bois-Colombes. That french factory later became a spun-off subsidiary because of the increasing tax pressure from the french government to the main equity partner. That french company still exists nowadays (Safran), and uses the brand Hispano Suiza brand for their power transmission business Other than that, as stated, it's incredible that nowadays this brand is still so loved and respected in it's home country, even if no cars have been produced neither in any of their factories since 1945 and were sold mostly abroad. As Juan Morales said: Hispano-Suiza was and still is spanish.
