Loved it ! What a trip down memory lane ! My favorite childhood play set was a custom wampa cave my gramps made for me out of white polystyrene it had the sliding door that housed my wampa in and even a cut out ceiling that I could put hoth Luke in upside down !! That with my snowspeeder was my go to play set ! When I get back to Uk I will look through my mums photo albums and try and find a photo of it !

First time I learned about that Vader TIE hanger bay was seeing one at a local store. Tates Comics and Toys had one and I asked the community what the heck that was. Learned a lot about it after that. It’s amazing that even when you think you’ve seen it all, there is always still more to discover with Star Wars toy collecting.

Used to play with my younger cousins Death Star playset when he got it for Christmas in 79, my playset was an old black box radio turned over with the battery compartment opened allowing a place for the figures to hide, loved my Sand People and Jawas, and had a couple vinyl caped Jawas and later several with cloth capes, their vinyl capes wore out and ripped within the first year or two, It amazes me how coveted they are today. I have purchased a couple of Stan Solo versions for memories sake because they are identical to what I remember, but prefer the cloth versions 🤙

I'd have to say that one of the best aspects of Star Wars vintage toys when I was a kid or the play sets and vehicles. You went over some fantastic ones in this episode, and while we can debate which are best for days, I think it's more appropriate to say that all these together are what help us to be fans forever of this line. Just watching this episode and seeing all these play sets take me back to my childhood and all the fun I had exploring my imagination and recreating scenes from the films. For me personally, I probably had the most play time with the Jabba the Hutt playset. He & his throne were often the center of the action, even if not directly involved. But all the ones based around the Hoth battle were also key in many play sessions too. As an adult collector now, I get so much satisfaction just looking at the beautiful boxes and seeing the full sets laid out for display. I'm in the same boat as you, collecting many in-box, complete sets now, but love having a complete one on display as well that people could touch & handle (and for me to look at). Vintage Star Wars really does make me (genuinely) happy, as it does so many others in our community. I know I've said it before Joey, but I really enjoy this series. Where it started and where it's going. It's definitely like following on my own collecting journey again. What an absolutely blast my friend.
@thepadawancollectorofficial2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mopar! Yes you make great points! Its hard to say which ones are the best in order as this whole experience is in the eye of the beholder. What is great to one, is subpar to another. But agreed when you say that its all part of a fantastic line that makes up a fantastic collection of nostalgia! I'm honored to have you watch and I'm honored to follow your own journey! Take care my friend

To keep my Falcon upright for display, I just insert 1 Q-Tip into each leg to make up for where the plastic no longer catches the ledge. Works like a charm. Just don't display too high up on a clear bottom shelf, lol.

I have always been partial to the Creature Cantina, as I had it as a kid. We were not very rich, but I had that and the Landspeeder, and that was the extent of my Star Wars toys beyond having some figures from ANH and ESB. So it might not be as exciting as some of the ones you mentioned, but the one that holds the largest sentimental value to me, so a few years back I was able to get another. I now also have the Death Star Playset, the Ewok Village, Jabbas playset, Jabbas Dungeon and the Rebel Command Center. I really wanted to get the Rebel Command Center, as Neal in Freaks and Geeks had one in his room, and I always thought it was such cool set decoration, I really wanted one myself. I am building it out a bit with figures and Mini Rigs.

Living in the UK, I had the Palitoy Death Star playset. It was amazing fun, but I always wanted the US version because it looked so much more sturdier being made out of plastic. But looking at them both now, I think the UK version has so much more play value. It may have only had 2 levels, but each floor had at least 4/5 rooms to explore and set up your figures in and every scene from the movie could be recreated 😆

Great video man. I love SW playsets and collect them as much as I can. People hate on the Darth Vader Star Destroyer but I think it has a lot to offer. I like the way those playsets composite different moments or scenes into one space like the Destroyer. And the play features are always charming and clever. The Imperial Attack Base is also very cool and I need a MISB example but they are hard to come by. For me though Dagobah is probably #1. The features make you think that you can use the force and are like magic tricks. Thanks for another video!
