A fantastic third entry Joey. It's such a joy to re-review the ROTJ line of figures in detail, both loose and MOC. Hearing the current prices is just the cherry on top of the video. I can never get enough vintage Kenner content. Thanks for putting this together. Looking forward to the next installments (as I know there will be at least one or two more in this series, right?)

yes there is the POTF line and then extra action figures like the TaunTaun etc :)

When the Return of the Jedi action figures came out in '83, I was about ten years old, but still very much into playing with action figures and toy vehicles. I was starting to build scale models that you glue together too and built a few of the Star Wars ships like the X-Wing, A-Wing and TIE Inteceptor. Challenging, but quite fun. I also did a bit of 'custom painting' on some of the toys that I'd had since I was four or five and that had lost a lot of their paint. I still enjoy doing that with 'beater' quality toys. I was, and still am, really impressed with the design and quality of the ROTJ figures! Loved that they were finally putting cloth capes and cloaks on more than just the Jawa for one thing. The removeable helmets was impressive as well. I had a friend who was super into G.I. Joe and had a lot of them by this time. I remember wishing that Star Wars had more articulation and accessories like Joe did. We started to get that wish with this line. The Emperor's Royal Guard is the best looking example of what they managed to do with cloth capes, I think, though the somewhat less handsome Bib Fortuna has a very impressive cloth cloak as well. I remember getting Admiral Akbar through mail-away. I was still loving doing that. The anticipation for what felt like an eternity after you mailed the proofs of purchase away made the figures even cooler. I got my Emperor that way too. I wound up with the pullover cloak Jedi Luke who had the green lightsaber and brown blaster. Something happened to him though. I don't know where he is now. I still have my Endor Luke though. I remember getting him and smiling at how Kenner basically took a Jedi Luke and put a new head and cloak on him. :) Wicket might be the hero Ewok in the movie, but when it comes to the action figures, my favorite was Logray because of his striped fur and all of his accessories. It was also fun to imagine him healing the other Rebels and casting hexes on the Imperials. When some of my friends would joke about how the Imperials shouldn't have lost on the Moon of Endor, I would say that maybe Logray messed them up with his spells. Interesting info about Klaatu! Not many people mention that he has so many variants. That's quite a few for a background character. He also is unique for being a background character who got two outfits - one for guarding Jabba's Palace and another outfit for guarding the air skiffs. I have the Skiff Guard version but not the Palace version yet. The Biker Scout is one of my favorite Imperial troopers for his clever, somewhat practical design that reminded me of BMX bike racers. When the Speederbike vehicle came out, I just 'had' to get two of them so that my Scout could chase an Ewok or Endor Luke on the other bike. Fun stuff! They did a good job of recreating the disguise surprise element for Leia and Lando's figures. Very cool that you can remove their helmets to recreate those surprising reveal scenes in the movie. I didn't have them as a kid, but I have the Power of the Force 2 versions of them now. I still need to get an 8D8 to complete my collection of the droids. I'm glad that he's still going for low prices. Endor Leia is a special figure indeed! I'm surprised that I didn't get one as a kid and haven't gotten one yet. I love that her belt has a working holster so the blaster actually fits in it. Something common in Star Wars figures today, but was unusual at the time. I'm sorry about your mom. This being the last one she got for you really makes your Endor Leia very special indeed! These toys are very cool on their own, but the memories that they bring up when we look at them make them even more special. It's so cool that Wicket was played by a very talented child actor. Some of the best acting from within a suit that we see in the saga. Great that they named the character after Warrick in part. I either didn't know or had forgotten that Klaatu was played by Billy D.'s son Cory. Good bit of trivia there! It's very interesting to me which action figures came with unique accessories, especially the blasters. I don't think any other figure other than Prune Face came with that brown blaster rifle that almost looks like it could be confused for a rifle from G.I. Joe. Neat info about who he is in canon. Too bad we didn't get to see him do any special forces stuff in the movie. Yeah, the Rancor Keeper crying over his beloved pet is a great scene! Neat that they showed us a bit of humanity in a bad guy character more than we usually saw in the original trilogy. Great video packed with info! Especially helpful is the reminder that only one Ewok was released in the Power of the Force 1 line, so the other Ewoks really shouldn't be priced at the crazy level that the one who was goes for. It really helps to know a bit about these toys before buying them today.

Excellent write up John and I appreciate the level of detail you put into this and hope others read this. Thanks for the sentiments about my mom too. She would have enjoyed this channel and would probably watch every episode 🙂.

Loved that your favorite figure came from your mom. My mom passed away several years ago and since she bought several of the figs that I still have from my childhood- I can relate. On a more funny note - enjoyed your cry with Malakili at ICCC!

Already tried to post this comment once. Hit the Patreon wall, I think when I tried to watch this last week. I like these videos because they are positive, whereas a lot of the star wars content is really toxic these days. I grew up poor, managed to get 30 or so figures by 1985. In the early 90s, I started getting my younger brothers to broker deals for whole collections that these kids had gotten from their older brothers. I probably passed them in the halls of Owatonna high School, knowing that twenty bucks had bought a sizeable portion of their childhood. I wound up with 173 originals, but fell short of a couple of the POFC figures. Oh well Great videos, keep it up!

Thanks Michael! Yes I have these videos as early access for KZbin and Patreon members but you can always watch them as they come out on Sundays. I wish I had started collecting in the 90s! Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment my friend. MTFBWY

I loved the separate bubbles for the helmets, it refreshed the look of the line a bit. They dropped the ball with not giving Endor Luke a removable helmet like his sister... Never put the blasters in the holsters on these figures, they bend! I always thought General Madine had a Cattle prod and was puzzled that Prune Face had a WW2 Lee Enfield rifle! I thought that it had been put in there from GI Joe out of laziness or something but no, he DID have a Lee Enfield but with a silver muzzle added. Great round up, Joey! ✌️
