My wife found this at a garage sale about 15 years ago. It was in the box so she took a chance and bought it for me. Turned out that every piece was there, nothing broken or missing. Even the sticker. No instructions but did have the catalog. Best $35 she ever spent. ❤️ her.

When I was in the fourth grade, I took my birthday money to a discount store in Virginia Beach. While sorting through the mostly old and useless toys, I found an unopened and original Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back Dagobah playset. I bought it for $6. Seriously. Although I was a kid (and Star Wars came out before I was born), I knew it was a tremendous find. I even felt guilty when I bought it. I wasn't "collecting" toys. Rather, I opened it up when I got home and immediately enjoyed my find. I can't remember the name of that store, but it had some amazing "where did you get this" items that would sometimes find their ways on the shelves.

had that playset, made everything out of it with my mom's help. she bought me little fake trees and brush and we made into a whole forest moon of endor display. had that thing for a great many years. she had one of her own brand new sealed in the box, she ended up selling it for around $400.00 i built this sucker within minutes when i had to put it all back together again when i still had it and i even got the robin hood one and made it into another part of the village. i miss having that playset. but, even if i wanted it again. just no room for it.

Great video and very interesting to hear background stories. I remembered back in 1989 when I started to collect I have found my ewok village in a garage sale with many other star wars toys and figs a friend of mine got together and bought the whole lot for 50$ and we split the whole lot between us since I had some of the toys but my friend didn’t had them and vice versa. For 25$ got my ewok village, jabba complete, darth vader tie fighter, snowspeeder, millennium falcon, luke’s landspeeder, sy snoodle max rebo band, probot playset and 10 figures. Those were fun years to find star wars toys for cheap

Toy companies have always been good at stretching their resources to get the most out of what they already have. And often I'll applaud the efforts because they do work. Kenner did a pretty good job honestly seeing the items from your video. As a consumer now, I'm not as big a fan of modern companies (cough, Hasbro, cough) with all the repaints, repackages, & reuse. But from a business standpoint, it's difficult to fault them for being innovative. And if we're being honest, they wouldn't continue to do it if people wouldn't continue to buy the product. All that aside...the Ewok Village!!!!! RotJ was my bread & butter age too. And nothing was a better backdrop or more versatile than this awesome beast. It's no wonder they made so many Ewoks. This thing was awesome. I have a SW version of this as well as the Robin Hood version (both loose but complete) but have been quietly on the hunt for a great looking box to go with my loose villages. They pop up from time to time & your price info was right on target. The box you got with yours was in pretty nice shape Joey. I'm happy that they cut you a deal & that you didn't have to worry about having that shipped to you either. I'm sure that Iain's (GW) will have an acrylic for this sometime soon too. It's just a matter of time. Another fantastic & informative Playset episode my friend. Can't wait for your next installment. Side note, I know you're pushing community support to your Patreon, but I couldn't help but notice your video had the old YT "Join Button" message (with your collector supplies segment) Think this might come back or is Patreon the better way to go? Just curious what's most beneficial to the channel. Thanks again for all you do!
@thepadawancollectorofficial Жыл бұрын
Hey Mopar! Yes kennner was definitely innovative, and yes from a business perspective, they were probably pressured from logistical and budget needs to get these out fast! And yes, I am only focusing on Patreon right now, so please go there if you’d like to consider supporting the channel. I may offer KZbin memberships in the future, but. I most likely will not as of now. Thanks my friend!

Kenner also made a tree house playset that had a little family living in it😂 looked like a umbrella shape, they reused it for the cartoon Ewoks too. This was my second "most wanted" piece when I got back into collecting last year. I picked up two of them - neither complete - in the last few months. I got this one from my personal dealer. I'm really lucky not only to've gotten this complete, but also, a speeder bike came with it and only came to $80. I've been wanting to get a hold of a Sherwood Forest playset for the treetop peices, the color scheme, and the fact that it may be younger and least likely for the tabs to break. Someday, though. :) I want to order some extra treetop pieces for the Ewok Village as well. I'm a big ROTJ fan, too and can't wait to set up a display. Once again, the AT-ST is a must for displaying just like for the Turret & Probot playset. :) Thanks for the video
