Grew up and live in Western New York i was so blessed to be able to listen to both American and Canadian music growing up in the 80's!! Seriously, most Americans do not know what music treasures Canada put out from the 70's throught the 90's! I am thinking of posting alot of Canadian bands with thier songs on FB so that other Americans, like my southern cousins, can hear what Canada put out then. Canadian rock and pop was so unique and distinct from mainstream American stuff. The Partland Brothers are no exception, they are Canadian through and through.

Another Canadian classic. The car they're driving so reminds me of my '64 Pontiac Parisienne ragtop and all the cruising I did in it while listening to the great sounds of the 60s-80s. "And we won't be back til the money's all gone!" Sounds like a lot of the roadtrips my buds and I took before this song even hit the airwaves. Songs of the 60s thru the 80s are what's keeping me young.

Later that year I went on holiday to the US for the first time and on my second day I went to a record store and bought the Electric Honey album on cassette. Soul City sounds as fresh today as it did in 1987 and it still gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it. An all time classic from a fabulous band. Great video too!

I absolutely love this song, both G.P. and Chris Partland. It is very unfortunate that they are both going through some hard life times right now and I certainly wish them both the best! Hang tight boys, we're all rooting for ya!

This song is part of a VERY Happy Coincidence: In 1986, I started a new job that required a lot of travel, though pretty much all within the State of Indiana. One of the first assignments I received was in Tell City, ~halfway between Louisville, Kentucky and Evansville, Indiana. This song was on the radio a lot at the time. From the first time I heard it, I LOVED this song. Thus, while driving, I sang it along, many times. Thankfully, no one was ever in the car with me. LOL I had been long-term unemployed and was just SO Happy to be working again. This was my fourth job, but it was the first that I thought I could make a Career out of. Unfortunately, certain "things" happened and I wound up leaving (voluntarily). I had a Good Run, ~six years, second longest time I stayed anywhere. And this song reminds me of one of the best assignments during one of my favorite jobs in my ten-job career. Thank you for a GREAT Song, Gentlemen!
