Clearly, this year will be worse than the previous one. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of poor investing decisions that I would not have made if I hadn't been so worried about my portfolio. I continued to invest, but I was unsure whether I should begin saving for a home. In the end, I sold my positions, and the house required more upkeep than I anticipated. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep going like this

Management is misdiagnosing the problem at Nike. Instead of admitting they need new styles and new comfort and better marketing, their response is to sell shoes under $100. Hoka and On are priced just as expensive as Nike shoes, yet they are growing. So yeah Nike is digging their own grave.

What competition? In the US? This is a problem with international corporations. Folks have no idea what’s going on the other side of the world. They think it’s the same back home. Starbucks has so much competition out of the US. If they making most profit in China, expect more losses.

SBUX might actually be overvalued due to high competition and low entry barriers. Anyone can set up a coffee shop and there are so many alternatives to coffee as consumers can substitute it with tea, soft drinks, fruit juices, beer, or wine. Consumers could even brew their own coffee at home and save money if Starbucks decides to raise prices or the economy tanks.

I'm still uncomfortable with pe multiple. I bought a few shares on the last deep. But can't open meaningful position with PE>15 for such a slow grower. 5% growth = 15 pe. No growth => 10 pe. I would rather double-triple (I have actually doubled today) $BMY at sub $40 that is traded below 10 PE and have some growth potential in new products and from the last acquisitions.

I think competition is a big issue for SBUX growth. There are additional national coffee chains (e.g., Dutch Bros.) everything markets. And even convenience stores are selling decent coffee these days.

There are just so many cooler cafes these days. Starbucks ambience is nonexistent. Its so dead and dark and cold and lonely inside. Its a self fulfilling prophecy. You see nobody inside, so you dont want to either. They need to just make it a drive thru only business, like that new dutch bros.

There have been too many cafes. No one drinks Starbucks' standardized coffee. Especially, sales in China and around the world are going to get lower and lower. I'd rather buy Hershey shares than Pepsi or Starbucks shares.
