What Chip is NOT saying is he's relieved to be away from the BS politics of UCLA and just be a coach like most successful programs. College football has effectively become a junior pro league. Most teams will just run under the structure of the “head coach” playing GM and game manager, with each coordinator playing head coach of their side of the ball. Which actually makes sense at the college level their rosters are 2x the size of the NFL’s 53+16 practice squad. D1 FBS programs get 85 scholarships plus an average of 33 walk-on’s. I bet a program like Ohio state has 50+, there’s no restriction.
