They ALMOST traded him for the number one pick in the draft, and ultimately didn't, boo hoo. The Packers ALMOST traded Aaron Rodgers, and all he did was go win an MVP. The franchise picked Wilson over their ALL-WORLD defense, was that not enough? Or how about the big contract? Wilson became more about his image and brand, wanted weapons (because Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf aren't apparently) and threw his OLine under the bus, despite most of the sacks on Wilson tend to be from him not seeing over the OLine and holding the ball.

I grew in the Seattle area, and I'll tell you that when he was Captaining our team, especially in the early Legion of Boom days, there was a very special energy towards those players. Russell was a part of that, but his ego seems developed to the point that he believes he's better than everyone in the arena, including the 12th man. I really liked seeing the original Legion of Boom back in the building. I hope some of them come back as coaches or advisors for our new line-up. Go 'Hawks!

@@Arigator2 Russ has always been a big play machine, which is fun to watch, but I don't think you win football by paying guys this much unless they are guaranteed a top 3, year after year type player. He has rarely looked like a top 3 player, let alone year after year, but yeah, if he was my QB, fun as hell to watch. The LOB was a legit generational side of the ball. If you look in 20 year spans there are 2-3 really ridiculous teams or offences/defences and they were one. Not sure Russ has proved he can be the difference.

Yes, Wilson did ask to leave, but he was forced to due to a clear lack of support in beefing up the O-line and lack of involvement in O schemes, something that all 10+ year veteran QBs have earned and received. The return games are all about the mental mind games. The tribute to Peyton in Indy when he came back was to get him out of his dialed in I’m gonna smoke your team mindset. He had to take off his helmet wave and smile to the crowd, and connect with the fan base again before killing em. “Legacy” is important to Russell. So before he came out to the field the Seahawks organization paid tribute to Russell’s old teammates. Some of whom probably leaked that stuff to the press. Then after those guys get cheered Russ has to trot out and get showered with boos. That was mental mind game genius

I think the beef between Seattle and Wilson is that for years since 2017 really, it would be constant news headlines of "RUMORS FROM WILSON'S CAMP he wants out of Seattle, he wants this, he wants that, etc" the team 3 stuff frustrated us and wore us out. I work right across the street from Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. Seahawks are definitely one of the worst teams in the league. They were lucky to win that game. Bronco's killed themselves with 100+ penalty yards and bad clock management/decisions at the end of the game. I will give props to Geno for playing well the first half. And the 12s at home in Lumen Field are one of the most intense and loud game day environments you can face in the NFL. They can literally affect the game with how loud they get, and you saw an example of that last night with the Broncos not being able to communicate at times and racing with the play clock to get the snap off on time. And people think they shouldn't boo? Cmon now. As a lifelong Seahawks fan, Russ was amazing for most of the 10 years he was in Seattle, and he will go down as arguably the best QB in Seahawks history, on and off the field. The difference between Wilson and guys like Manning or Brady is that as the years went on it became harder and harder to believe Wilson. It became harder to actually believe he was a Seahawk rather than a Team #3. Manning and Brady not only earned the respect of their previous teams, but they weren't fake, or come off as fake. Wilson has been nothing but cliche phrases in everything he says. It feels like he is less about winning as a team, and more about making ESPN highlight plays, and building the Wilson name. People have been blaming Pete Carrol for the boos. No. They don't know how Seattle fans are built. Why are they so fanatical? Because it's not a business relationship between the players and the fans. That's the job of the front office. On the field, in the stadium, out in the community, that's a relationship.
