@@rottnlove wish shipping can easily be a few days, I've had seeds delivered extremely quick. Just gotta pick the items that have express speeds available, though some that don't will still be quick. Now they have faster shipping available. Not when it first came out. The reason the stuff was so cheap litterally was pushed in advertisements similarly to "can you wait for two weeks for it? If you want to know truth about oysters and pearls you should do research. I am certified, through the CPAA and I despise people like this guy lying to people about formation of pearls, colors, and other stereotypes. Want some oysters? I'll hook you up with a distributer for a wholesale company. You can request the color, the size, the amount you want inside(two, three, 20) and so forth. They are not expensive. He "wants"people to get twins, well he should know how many twins he ordered. This whole thing is either bs and lies....or they are truly ignorant of what they're doing.

Hi. I shuck oysters every day for my job at a restaurant. I have found many pearls. But none of them as shiny or perfectly round as these. I’ve shucked oysters from the east west and gulf coast of the us. By the hundreds. I assume it’s a specific breed that dedicates it’s growing power to the pearl rather than the meatiness of the oyster itself.

Just came across this channel and this is my first video. Such beautiful pearls. I didn't even know there were so many colors of pearls. if I may suggest tho, perhaps use a non reflective bowl maybe of a dark color with the white sand to show off the pearls better. The pearls form from sand grains that get inside the oyster, they are like kidney stones for the oysters. It puts layers on top of the grain forming the pearl. The oyster usually has the same color for twin pearls because the color depends on the oyster's metabolism.

Now I want to go out and get oysters for pearls
@Catalina28086 жыл бұрын
Romasah Shakeel I do too! And, it's all about opening the oyster for the surprise. Kinda like Christmas, you want to unwrap your own gifts. Letting someone else do it for you, takes away from the overall surprise.

Violet Mave They sometimes do it at beach sides or at water/aquatic animal parks? If there are any of those near you. I went to one with my sister when I was little and they let us pick an oyster (already dead so no cruelty) we tapped on it for good luck, and they opened it for us, then we took it to the small shop next door (or a stand at the other beach we went to)and they either set it in ready made jewelry or put it in a little box for us. We both got cute matching necklaces :) and i got another necklace years later

I'm confused and new here?! I have questions 1.) there are different color pearls? 2.) is there certain rare colors? 3.) are each color of pearls worth some kind of money? 4.) why are random ppl getting a certain amount of oysters, are they fans? 5.) how do I get some?

It may have been the algorithm that brought me here, but this is the perfect accompaniment to watch while I'm working. Don't have to be looking constantly and can still follow what's going on. And yes, it is an easy way to pass an hour or more.

Only certain types of oysters can produce black pearls naturally. And they produce almost exclusively dark pearls. Are you using multiple types of oyster or are you dying the pearls?

this also happens to pink and peach pearls but it's a very small amount of blood. for the peach pearls a little bit of very fine dusty sand with the smallest amount of blood is absorbed by the pearl to give it a peachy looking color

These pearls are seeded so every clam will have one if only 1 seed was placed. After surgery they are cared for to ensure the seed takes. They are then left to live their lives. They are checked on often and fed well. They can be left for 12 to 24 months to grow. However, the seeds do not produce pearls that are favorable. Farmers will let them grow for 5 years and yield larger and rounder pearls. Along the way to harvest some hosts die. These are sold off to people you see here, as well as jewelers who sell a cheaper quality of gems to people who can afford them. In natural forms the color of the pearl is determined by the color of the inner to outer edge of the oyster. In the ones the size of the host you won't get any large pearls as the growth of the host is not yet large enough to produce larger pearls. The larger the host, usually clams or mussels, the more seeds you can place. It would be cool to see videos of the hosts being "surgically" seeded. The seeded specimen can be colored so pearls are produced in rare colors.

You can, in fact, get twin pearls of one light and one dark. The colour comes from the 'lip' of the oyster and since the lip of a freshwater oyster is iridescent, it can result in a vast array of slight shading differences in the nacre (which is the name for the surface a pearl) Whilst the darker colours are pretty, these colours are produced by either dying or irradiating the pearl. I personally much prefer the more natural colours.

Susan Crichton you seem to have a lot of knowledge about pearls. How would a person find out the value of black pearls and classic white pearls purchased in Japan and Okinawa in the 30's, 40's and 50's. I took them to a local jeweler and was told that these days pearls are so common that they aren't really valuable. I don't believe many jewelers have any knowledge about older pearls.
@lunarfaerie85527 жыл бұрын
Linda Justice Hi Linda, I'm by no means qualified to give you accurate advice about valuing pearls as so many factors come in to play. Can I perhaps guide you towards an absolutely legitimate source of knowledge? There is a website called pearl-guide.com where you will find all number of experts in all manner of the differing aspects, from valuation advice, restoring and caring for pearls as well as advice on avoiding the pitfalls of purchasing good quality pearls. They have a very friendly forum where you will be best advised. Good luck-hope this has been helpful.

@@lindajustice2000you need a reputable jewellers or auction house. You'll always get someone saying "ooh there every where and cheap.." but they say "ill give you a small amount for them". Bare in mind if they are ten a penny/buck ect the guy wouldn't want them 😅😅😅 they'd be dead stock... They'll be worth more definitely. Auction houses need to sell stuff so you'll get a price for insurance.
