In my house we rarely put tomatoes in Omena. We soak them in lemon water, then fry them. Then we fry onions(make sure they are still crunchy), garlic add maggy cubes and whole lemon juice and add in your Omena and let it cook for 10mins or until you see zimeshikana na the onions mixture. You love them trust me.

My neighbor cooks omena for my sons because i just cant cook or even taste, yaani mimi siezi zikula tu sijui mbona. Hahahaha, ni kama sasa nitajaribu bora nivae mask.I love you guys, your recipe iko sawa tuu. My thoughts about omena are matching with K's. I was chilling then someone said their eyes are open.ohhhh. For my kids I soak the silver fish then dump them in the blender with garlic tomatoes onions preferred spices then I blend. After on to the pan I heat some oil add onions then pour my blended mixture.. I let it cook until it produces oil..guys it becomes astew like consitistance..ooh my God you can eat the whole sauce pan and the kids enjoy it so much.

I dont think I would ever buy already fried omena from the market. You dont know what OIL they used or how old the oil they used is or whether they first washed the Omena. Best to buy fresh & do it yourself

Omena doesn't need alot of madoidos...... just select them, boil for 5minutes, drain, fry an onion add the omenas and salt and you are good to go.
