Thank you for the series. My son lives in Philly and has told me about them (not in an enthusiastic way) but I love it! Loving watching your videos, shows me places he will now have to take me to see. Love all the history ones also.

Been watching the mummers ever since my grandmother introduced me to the parade when I was little kid. Living in the Lehigh Valley I only got to watch on TV. Now my wife and go every year. Glad to hear our local station, WFMZ, will be broadcasting it for those back at home. I'll still be there celebrating the new year on broad! TV does not do the parade justice. People really need to see the parade for themselves to really appreciate it. One day when I will march down Broad!

My Dad took 8 millimeter film on Broad Street on New Years Day years ago. What costumes. Totally Philadelphia. Thanks for bringing it to us.

When I was a kid I grew up in Gibbstown New Jersey.. Philly was are town.. we use to take the bus over by ourselves at age 12. We would walk around Market Street and the sights. Went to 8th str Music. Etc. The memories.

I always wondered why they called it a STRING band. Sax, accordion and a couple of banjos. Oh well. 😮

Why did I feel weird when Cap asked the 26 year old how many chicks he picked up with his accordion? Even though he said 26 he looked like a child! lolol

Silly Captain is this just something that’s in Philadelphia or is it other cities and other states that do it as well? I’ve never heard of the murmur so that’s why I’m asking. I’m excited that you’re recording it on the first so should be a good video. Thanks.
