Just got my Queen yesterday. She's a narrow dark form. I don't use any soil in my aroid mix at all and all my Philedendrom are thriving. I don't like soil so I'll use a little coco coir instead. I'm gonna try and mimic your mix..I'm so glad I live in Kissimmee Florida where the average humidity monthly is about 75%. My tropical plants including rare ones grow like weeds. My Queen is from North Florida where the humidity is lower so it should enjoy my home more then it's last. Can't wait to get her. Thanks for the video it was perfect. Most informative video on KZbin about Queen Anthurium.

Your bits about humidity/air flow outdoors vs. indoors and how plants grow differently in general indoors/outdoors was a huge insight for me. It seems so obvious now. THANK YOU! I was trying to maintain 65% in my fancy plants room but gave up. I think 55% will be perfect. My queen dropped all her leaves but I have one beautiful leaf now. I think I just need to water her more frequently. My spiritus has grown like crazy with the exact same conditions/watering. Amazing video thanks again!!

I bought a queen seedling from NSE tropicals in october (I live in SE Louisiana). She was doing AMAZING, not a single sign of acclimation damage UNTIL a huge ice storm hit us mid February. The super low temps were too much for me to protect her and on top of that she dried out a few times without me noticing😖. I just moved her to a slightly more shady spot (spring is really starting to heat up here) and increased her watering. So far her roots are fine; I noticed a bit of drying from those few missed waterings, but from now on I’m doing my best to keep her consistently moist. Her newest leaf is still holding on strong but the smaller immature leaves are yellowed. I’m just hoping she’ll put out a new one soon and forgive me for my sins. Your videos are incredible, I come back to them at least a few times every month. I love your philosophy of compromise with your plants! I have noticed an incredible difference in quality from her to my other anthuriums, it’s almost like Enid is known as the queen of anthuriums for a reason😉

i'm pretty sure the people who lived in that area knew about the plant. the german guy didn't discover anything. he took it from its native habitat and brought it back to europe is more accurate.

As all botanists do unfortunately. He genuinely loved the plants though. He died a few years later exploring plants on his last dime. He decided living among them was where he was happiest. I mention him because he is often overlooked in science and he deserved more.

@@ThePlantsMeow instead of saying 'discovered' - i have heard other people mention when a plant was first 'described' by a botanist. I feel like thats a nice way to give the botanist credit for their work without the colonial implications of 'discovery'
