My implants almost killed me. I had 11 years of different illnesses that no doctor could find answers to. I felt toxic, I looked old and felt old. My mouth and body odor was terrible. My hair fell out. I had vag bleed for 8 months then I had Premature menopause, low libido, heat intolerance, metalic taste, weight gain, dental cavities, severe dry mouth, joint pain, arm numbness, severe bloating and gas. Blurry vision, choking sensation during meals, chest pressure, leg swelling, constipation, severe insomnia, irritability, depression, elevated ANA and sed rate. I was left with memory problems to the point where I had to quit my job. I was left sick and broke. I finally found a doctor in Tijuana Mexico, short walk across the border of San Diego that took them out . Cost me a lot less that what was quoted to me by doctors here in the US. I am 1 week postop and I have been feeling so much better . I was told I will have to detox my system to get back to normal. I would encourage anyone with breast or buttock implant to get them out if you are feeling sick without any explanation from doctors .

Your list of symptoms is almost identical to mine... I feel like I’m just surviving each day rather than actually living my life.😢 I have bilateral level 4 capsular contracture, and I have now been told it’s quite possible I have ALCL. But will anyone agree to remove my implants..? NO!! They are talking about chemo and a whole host of other scary stuff, but they won’t even discuss with me the possibility of explanting my breast implants... THE CAUSE OF ALCL AND (I believe) ALL MY TERRIBLE LIFE CHANGING SYMPTOMS. Something has to change! Why won’t people listen to me? I’m an intelligent woman, but I feel I’m being treated like an idiot. It may not be serious to the doctors and surgeons but it is to me. It’s my body, my health, and my life that is being ruined by this problem. I’ll say it again for those at the back... SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE.

Mrs. Johnson Yes they will deny until they no longer can or it’s common knowledge & they see their business is changing due to the voices of women harmed by implants. The other problem is it doesn’t seem to have a negative impact on ALL implanted women so it hurts those of us who have an autoimmune response. But times are changing! The fact this group exists & many others are popping up is a huge step in the right direction!

En bloc: Taking the implant out along w/the scar tissue (capsule that forms around every single patient’s implant) is a SKILL that not all surgeons are capable of accomplishing. I hate to say this because it’s definitely going to be a touchy subject among the plastic surgeons sitting here but it IS a possibility in many cases that they might say it’s not. That’s why it’s important to locate a surgeon that performs explant surgeries all day every day.

Everything raises your chance for cancer. And noone is telling you how much it raises. It's mostly just "X is cancerous". Most plastic softeners are cancerous, so my headphones have a warning about being cancerous, fried food is cancerous and so is milk and too much meat..... At some point you stop listening. Many women feel devestated, it's their breasts and cancer is taking them. It is an important part of their body and how they see themselves. Someone offers to make their boobs look about the same. People aren't able to comprehend all the risk in this stress. What you sign just says it has risks. It doesn't state percentages.

Textured Implant recall & potential for BIA-ALCL info: The “en bloc” surgery eliminates most concerns with regard to breast implant lymphoma if done properly. For example, if by chance you had unknown fluid tied to BIA-ALCL inside your capsule, it would be taken out completely via “en bloc” (the capsule *plus fluid* & implant as a whole package) thus any fluid from lymphoma surrounding the implant is removed without spillage. The capsule is then cut open & if fluid exists, it is sent to lab along with piece of capsule for testing. If a patient went to surgeons office complaining of swelling in one breast with obvious fluid, they would they aspirate & test that fluid. If positive she’d ABSOLUTELY NEED en bloc removal. That is how one keeps the disease contained.
@angelaraine89084 жыл бұрын
Even if they can’t do enbloc they can and should be doing total capsulectomy which is the appropriate procedure according to plastic surgeons who understand BII. My capsule was very thin and they took it all out in small pieces. I’m so happy and comfortable they did.

I spend the last three years getting sicker and sicker. I had all the tests done with a neurologist who thought it could be MS, Hughes, Lyme, Fibrosis or some other auto-immune disorder. All tests came back negative and I was diagnosed with a functional disorder. Then my right breast swelled. I had a fine needle biopsy which came back with pointers towards BIA-ALCL. I had an enbloc and it was confirmed BIA-ALCL. I believe (and there are some studies on this) that I had a silent infection going on in the capsule and that's what gave me all the symptoms of autoimmune disorders. That infection then became cancerous. I believe BII is a pre-curser to BIA-ALCL, perhaps not for everyone but certainly for some.

Another thing I find appalling...My implants from a double mastectomy reconstruction are over 20 years old and not one of my doctors ever mentioned or suggested I should have some type of periodic imaging done to monitor my implants for a silent rupture. Now I'm just praying it is my implant and not cancer.

This whole situation with breast implants being popularized and normalized has been a great tragedy and serious medical failure. For a long time the "under the muscle" implant was seen as new, innovative, and healthier. Now we see that for an explant, the under-the-muscle implant is among the more dangerous procedures. What a mess. We as a society must address why women are being encouraged to get these plastics and chemicals into their breasts in the first place. The truth is that women are risking their lives to please men and support the patriarchal social structure. It would be so much easier and healthier to practice self-acceptance than to get multiple surgeries and permanently disfigure one's breasts via implant, explant, and maintenance surgeries. It's devastating.
