Justin Marshall Recaps First All Blacks Squad Naming of 2024, Including Surprise Selections

Justin Marshall - former All Blacks halfback and current Sky Sport rugby commentator - joins Martin Devlin on It's Only Sport to recap the first All Blacks squad naming for 2024. Coach Scott Robertson unveiled his group of 32 on Monday evening, which featured five players yet to play test rugby and the return of veteran halfback TJ Perenara.
Marshall and Devlin go through all the main talking points of the squad named including new caps, surprise omissions, Scott Barrett being chosen as the new captain, only three locks being selected, and more.

If there was a standout superstar in SR this season it was Hoskin Sotutu. I hope SB and Patrick stay healthy and we blood new locks as we do not have Bok like depth there. Sadly, I believe the same is true at 9-10.

Devlin consistently has the most negative and most ill informed opinions out of any pundit on any platform. Fosters,Ryan and Schmidts all blacks were the best team at the wc in 2023, losing by a point against a springbok side that had an extra man doesnt change that. Razors done well to maintain a lot of that and as much as i dislike the crusaders i look forward to seeing what razor and hansen in particular can do to improve these players. We have one of the biggest packs in the world. Itoje (Eng) and woki (fra) are two of the best locks in the NH and are both 6ft5. We have three props that height and Ofa and lomax are 6ft4. Finau is also 6ft5 and our opensides are all 6ft3 +. Ardie is the small guy but hes pound for pound the best player to ever play the game. Clarke and JBarrett are also two of the biggest backs in world rugby.

The teams we lost to were ha I g their best runs in history when they did and were performing at the best in the world. They were no longer the third tier teams we always beat and thus the record wasn't going to stay and losing it didn't mean the same loss of caliber
