It's an investment in time, space and money. I played the campaign game once (solo), 1-2 turns at 2-3 hours per evening, sometimes(much) longer depending on the action that turn. Combat, movement and C & C are all good for me and I would recommend it if you're looking for a huge and deep war game. But I would also ask in advance if you don't mind losing yourself in the historic detail that makes all three books so thick and that can be a distraction to the (war) game that you're trying to play. Having a sports game on tv in the background is also a great distraction ;)

Looks outstanding. But i do not have the table space either. Got 4 x 6 ft table in my bedroom which I could add another 2'x4'. barely. thats is it. Until the kids all move the hell out. Great video as always.👍👍👍👍👍

Now THAT'S a war game...a great big in-your-face monster war game! 😲 "You want the TRUTH!? You can't HANDLE the truth!!" 🤯

It’s a good game. Very heavy on historical detail, but that comes at a price. There’s a lot to absorb. Follow the advice in the rulebook, play the endgame scenarios first. Get familiar with the mechanics and then delve into opening turns where the unit specific, hex specific, time specific and weather specific rules may not be quite so overwhelming.

This looks more like a life style than a game. No thanks. I'll wait for the movie.

Like to get in with this game, but I have my vacation in July and then their's Christmas. Time for crumpets and a cup of tea while I settle down to a game of checkers...

Nice vid. The game is based on the "Bitter Woods" system which is only a two map game.

I don't see how it's possible to review and evaluate a game of this size for any sense of historical accuracy and outcome. Are we supposed to believe this campaign game has been playtested through and through 50 times (at least) to see if game outcomes are in scope? Even investigating whether or not this game has been properly vetted would be exhausting! Good unboxing in that I can at least see what I'll never buy. But you are right, there are some players digging into this as evidenced by commentary on BGG. okay, but there is too much fun to be had with other games of what are of sufficient breadth and easier to get into. According to some comments on BGG setup time for the CG can be 8-12 hours or more. Some wise guy on BGG commented that setup is 2 seconds on VASSAL -- well that's great -- why didn't they just release this as a VASSAL game and be done with it then? lol anyway thanks for the effort, good video.

I see you also received 2 of the same colored dice. The rules reference rolling 2 different dice and often mention red and white. Not a huge deal since who doesn't have a bucket of dice, but still...

I was never going to buy this game, until CSI did a half off sale for this and I got it for $59. Too cheap to resist. I just hope there are some smaller scenarios in here as I have no room for 5 map sheets.

How is this and compared to WACHT am Rhein, the Battle of the Bulge?

I think you're saying this is not an introductory game.
