In this episode of Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles, the guys are joined by Celtics’ stars Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum. You’ll be surprised to learn the identity of the first person to put a number on Kyrie when he was a rookie. Everybody then shares their best Coach K stories, and we also learn how Drake almost got Kyrie to wear Kentucky blue, and what it was like for Jayson to be the next prodigy in St. Louis. Kyrie then explains the origin of his absurd layup package, as well as what his dad used to have him do that made his handles second to none. He and Jayson also touch on the influence that Kobe has had on both their games. Jayson tells the story of being starstruck last year when Kobe reached out to him during the playoffs, and then explains what he learned from working out with him in the off-season. Kyrie says that Kobe was one of the few people he went to for advice when he was debating his decision to leave LeBron and the Cavaliers. Finally, laugh along as Kyrie and Jayson joke about the time they almost squared up, and everybody has a good time discussing Darius’s and Jayson’s love for St. Louis. Knuckleheads keeps on rolling. In partnership with Hennessy.

Maybe because you don't see the real Kyrie out here in Boston, he doesn't really act like himself he's more like a serious person around this season you know, finals, semi, and championship, he doesn't really stick out in the media as he used to now, he is kept to himself and he has a private like more of a private life instead, but it's good he is like all the NBA players are like more out there and stuff but Kyrie acts like this most of the time like celebrating, at games, and other like parties. If somebody never saw or have seen Kyrie act like this then where've you been? xD but yeah I wrote a whole paragraph of Kyrie and how most people don't see him like this.

Yeah, man. His dad was tryna get the most out of his own basketball career by playing in Europe until Jayson was like 4 or 5. Brandy raised Jayson up to that point with minimal financial support up to then. Justin Tatum came back and got a private school basketball coaching job that he wouldn't have gotten without playing in Europe and that helped connect Jayson and Brandy to all the right people in St. Louis A dad who has to do his work and comes back into his children's lives later is not a deadbeat. That's just part of the human experience. I think Brandy, Jayson and Justin are all very happy with how their lives turned out.

And is it fair? Perhaps not. Because I also read in that story that she put her self through law school while having to support him. That couldn’t have been anywhere near easy. So does Brandy deserve more credit? Absolutely. Could Jayson been a pro without his dad? No. I just hate how they positioned that story. So sick of that narrative when it’s not the case. Journalists in this country are some shit

Both Jayson and Kyrie had awesome parents that poured into their talent, dreams and also their characters...that is an evolution that I love. We came up in a generation where it was so hard on talented kids where predators were working on kids outside the home and in home...too many careers destroyed by blood dragging them down...while I hate kids get so institutionalized to only know making money for white folks all their lives until they are an established pro (if they make it) I can't deny the system does at least give the best opportunity to hit that lottery ticket to get the coaching and exposure to reach the NBA...I loved basketball more than anything between the ages of 11-21 (still do), but in trying to walk on at Villanova I could tell the coaching/relationships I was fostering locally weren't worth shit and being in the AAU/Camp pipeline is the best way...Salute to the parents that dial in and support these guys.

MOST OF THE TOP NBA PLAYERS DONE WENT THRU AAU SYSTEM AND GOT THAT SUPPORT. In some cases the youth coaches know those players that are going to be going places TBH. They foster CERTAIN players from the youth up to college and beyond. Curry, Klay, Kyrie, Jayson had a great support system and TALENT to get to that NEXT LEVEL. I had a couple guys from my area who trusted the process and are now good professional players in the NBA right now. A lot of factors go into making it into the NBA too. A ton of cats who fell thru the cracks who were talented but they did fit with the NBA system. It's not just talent either to make it, but a business and their is a certain way they want their players to carry and conduct themselves along with the talent.
