I think you also have to put into account the context of this song to really fully appreciate her version. This song is basically Eva Peron’s speech, so she’s kind’a singing super pristine and poised like a politician. I think you have to know the story to understand Lea’s choices in this performance. I quite like the fact that she chose to put the emphasis on “I” rather than “Never” bc the character has made some selfish decisions throughout the play. It’s a very subtle hint, but shifts the narrative fully.
