I personally kinda honestly want Liko to not be related with Ash at all, if they are gonna remove Ash and completely give us completely new protagonists then I want COMPLETELY NEW protagonists. I want more of a fresh start, also I feel like that hair clip isn't any some sort of proof that she is related with Ash at all cuz it's not like the hat with green symbol thingy was just completely unique/special to only Ash.

I think the idea of Liko being Ash's daughter could be a fun and cool way to incorporate her ties to Ash and would give fans something a lot of asked for that being a time jump so it should be interesting to see where they go with Liko and Roy's stories. That being said I do think it's more likely Liko is a huge fan of Ash serving as her form of inspiration.

@@eljordinio7647 If she's indeed Ash and Serena's daughter, then I doubt she would have chloe's character background issues. It's a hard reset for Pokemon, but quite necessary. I am not sure if they can ever replace Pikachu though, the electric mickey is too iconic, I would love to see her have a Pichu, Pikachu kid, tag along as a friend, similar to Ash/Pikachu 's relationship, only to eventually evolve via friendship to Pikachu.

Riko being Ash’s daughter is a bit too wild but Ash retiring is also wild and that’s the only reason I don’t completely disregard this theory. Personally I would love to see Ash acting like an inspiration/mentor figure. We did see older characters in JN supporting new characters and Ash as the world champion will be the perfect person to continue this trend. I also want to see a passing of the torch episode. Maybe Ash and Riko will meet and Riko will ask him for a battle and of course Ash being Ash will accept while remembering how he also asked Leon for a battle when he was the world champion. During the battle Ash could remember of his early journey just like Leon and Cynthia did while battling him. This way we will be able to see Riko as the new protagonist and Ash as the true World Champion she will be aiming to surpass.

The biggest clue that she may not actually be Ash's daughter came through the promo of the new anime. It read: "Across the wide world, a new adventure is about to begin", thus suggesting that it could be the same continuity and doesn't indicate a time skip the way i see it. Or maybe they want to keep it under the wraps just yet. Who knows.

I just think Liko is inspired by Ash's attitude and his world champion run... they have no family relation whatsoever. I also think that Ash will appear again, but not as a MC or as an adult... in fact, I think this series will be probably a year or two after Ash's biggest victory and Liko got inspired to start her own journey because of that. Also, I think the hair clip is mainly some type of souvenir from Kanto. Nothing special. Ash owned a cap from the same apparel. That's why Liko got a hair clip from it when she went on vacation with her parents to Kanto.

Yeah... i think Riko has features from every Pokegirl just to resemble them without being related. The hair color of both Riko and Roy (Blue and Red)... is not only a nod to the Original western games (Blue and Red or Blue and Red characters)... but also a nod to Jessie and James. Plottwist: Riko is the daughter of an officer Jenny and Roy is the son of a Nurse Joy. A potential problem as well is this: If Riko is related to any of the main characters... that sets up unrealistic expections from the start (Especially if its Ash).

I really hope that Riko is Ash's daughter; but apparently the necklace is a terra crystal, not a thunderstone, and I think her hairpin is suppose to represent Rayquaza's head. That being said though; Riko's outfit with the long overcoat is exactly the style Serena wore in XY after the haircut, and no other Pokegirl or character in this anime that I know of dresses like that. There is also the fact that Scarlet and Violet are about the past and future, and so it only makes sense to do a time jump and have her be Ash's daughter.

The can of worms that'd be open if they ever did this. Not even just the theories surrounding the idea, but *also the expectancy of old characters returning outside of just Ash. {*Something that technically can be done without the blood relation, but without the constant hanging bait over the fandom's head in hopes for them.} (For Ash, I think it's best they leave his future for the most part, open-ended. Let the fans fill in their own blanks on it and let the new gen anime start with a clean slate. Plus, Ash can be a father figure without necessarily having a kid.)

You don't need to get the Naruto - Boruto treatment there's other animes that do the generations thing better. For example InuYasha and YashaHime they do that really well or even Jojo Bizarre Adventures or Shaman King . And if she isn't Ash daughter we can have something like what Yugioh and Digimon did when they switched protagonists and in Digimon case when the mascot wasn't the main Digimon anymore. I don't think she is Ash's daughter. I also don't think there will be a time skip. And honestly there shouldn't be one. While this new Pokemon anime is very ambitious and I want to support it, it is also super risky considering how iconic Ash and Pikachu are. At this point the people that still watch the Pokemon anime would have watched no matter what as long as they got to see Ash and Pikachu. The same cannot be said for these new characters and while the good thing is that the writers have no excuse (not that they had it previously but you know what I mean) to not write an epic story. And in case if the anime does fail, they might have to revert to Ash and Pikachu (not saying it will or I want it to but let's be real there is a high possibility). In an ideal world I would have wanted Ash and Pikachu to continue their journey as I think there is much more that could have been done. The Pokemon world and Ash's adventure does not solely revolve around leagues. And I would have wanted maybe a mature anime for us older fans with fewer episodes if making 130+ episodes isn't ideal. And also having this new anime for the kids that are just starting to watch Pokemon. Making Liko/Riko Ash's daughter, or even taking that step is something they cannot go back from without retconning the new anime or pulling a Boruto.

I think you are misunderstanding something tho. Although you are right that the world of Pokemon doesn't revolve around gyms and leagues. I have to inform you that the main series do since they are based on the games lore. Therefore ending Ash journey in the main series was the best decision because Ash is the champion now and too strong to go against those Gym Leaders. There is however an alternate timeline / world that doesn't follow the games lore, and that is shown in the Pokemon movies. So while the main series Ash journey ends as a main protagonist, the movies Ash can still be a protagonist to do exactly what you said, but that would be in the Pokemon movies or it would be confusing for people to see a different Ash in the main series

She's the daughter of one of the most well know protagonist and with that she's not just a random character we have to find reasons to like. At least in the games, there seems to be a time jump from gen 8 to gen 9, so what I'm thinking is there will be a time skip during which Ash has a family, who the mother is doesn't matter as much but I suspect Serena just because her affection for Ash was just obvious. I think Liko being his daughter would also add an interesting dynamic in keeping with Scarlet and Violet's themes of the past and future. Maybe she wants to follow in his footsteps, maybe she wants to go her own way and get out of his shadow, either way she'd have a LOT to live up to, in universe and with the fans. I think her being connected to Ash would help the community, especially older fans who have been around for a while accept her.

While I don't dislike the overall idea of having her be related to Ash, having her be his daughter feels a bit much. Not only that, but doing it feels a bit cliche. Having the protagonist of a sequel series be the child of a previous protagonist? It's been done before: Boruto, Yashahime, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. And don't get me started on the American shows that done it.

Look I am just going to say it, I don’t want the anime to have a lead female protagonist. In lots of different movies and shows for example Marvel, they have replaced male characters with female ones. It’s not like that is bad, but it is happening everywhere and all my shows that I watch have done this. I wish that the new anime would focus on Ash’s son (that is if he has aged), who has a pikachu as his starter (so that we still get to see the mascot in the anime somehow) and travels through Paldea. This would be better in my opinion than the two new protagonists we got Riko and Roy. I was hopeful about Roy, but then I read his description and he is doesn’t like the outside or battling much. Like that sucks. Riko does seem like she could be a good character, but again everyone is replacing their lead male characters to female ones. But I will still watch the new anime and see how it goes and I do hope that Riko is a good character and is able to live up to Ash

I don't buy the Poketuber theory of Ash's daughter. I think this will have a clean break. The hairpin is a wink and nod to tbe OG series hat. The necklace is a pendant of Terastal crystal, likely to be revealed to be connected to the "Disk Pokemon" referenced in Scarlet and Violet. I think at most Ash will return for a cameo on day as the defending Champion to become a inspiration/dream to achieve for our future protagonists. I don't see Pokemon deciding Ash and Serena, or Ash and anyone, did the dirty and now we have a new main character. It just doesn't seem like the way they intend to write Ash out. More he will be some background figure of a "traveling champion" like Red was in the games

Just as long as they keep the story constantly consistent for Riko, across the Scarlet & Violet anime with no going off track, then I'm more than down for the new protagonist. Even if she is the daughter of Ash & Serena. Also Pokémon should take a page (no pun intended lol) from the MMPR comic and make their own, detailing the events leading up to the Scarlet & Violet anime and in the next generation. Even after they've finished with Paldea region (after a reasonable time gap for the new anime to flourish), is do a season or two where the next generation meet up the protagonists of last era - Riko's *parents (Ash & Serena) included, also a couple of specials - if Riko is the child of Ash & Serena, that focuses on their family life. That's my thoughts on this.

I think all this information is very interesting and I think Leko could either be a brand new character or she could be Ash’s Daughter since we don’t know of this new series is set just after Journey or if thier was a time skip also if She is ash’s and one of the other Pokegirls daughter I think it would be either Serena or Dawn but I’m more focus on Serena because of Dawn’s appearance being alternated in Journeys we’re her eyes are Grey instead of her usual Blue and her hair is much darker blue than before and Leko’s Coat looks like a shelved verison of Serena’s Trent coat of her second outfit.
