Well thought out kit! However some notes: 1. While black gloves isn't a deal breaker there's no reason to carry black gloves over another color. Bright or tan gloves (for example NARESCUE's bear claws) are superior in every way to black gloves. During the survey of the patient it is easier to find blood with non-black gloves. Do I carry black gloves? Yes, because I have a large supply of them. But I prefer to carry bear claws or neon colored ones, when I'm administering aid I'm not trying to hide, 99% of the time it's the opposite. 2. Might've missed it but Aspirin is easy to carry, lifesaving and has other uses. 3. A kit of this size should have at least two tourniquets, especially if it's meant as a traffic injury kit, it's common to have injuries to both legs in a crash. One tourniquet is a compromise I carry in my EDC bag/ankle kit but that's for ease of carrying. My bags and packs have at least two.

I just finished my EMR training, I've been on the volunteer fire department for 35 years and I decided that I needed the training just in case of a SHTF event

Remember to rotate out any items that have an expiration date. I mark mine with blue paint marker to make them easy to identify.

I’m gonna suggest a second chest seal. You may have a entry and exit wound that need them. You could use the ziplock bag (or any piece of plastic) and tape all 4 sides of the exit wound but a second chest seal is a lot faster.

Rides in every vehicle and 1 next to my desk at work. Takes up a little room and has never been used but worth the hassle.

I know you said you had various sizes of needles but I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that the syringe you pointed to in the kit is inadequate to do a needle decompression. Even if the blunt is long enough to penetrate the skin it would be nowhere near large enough in diameter to allow the air or blood to escape the thoracic cavity fast enough to be effective. A decompression needle is 14ga and usually about 3” long. On the other hand if that’s a 14ga blunt and you try to do IM meds with it you’re going to start a fight with whoever you use it on lol

Agree on the gloves. I’m an emergency Nurse Practitioner and have ordered from NAR. NAR has great products. Good video.

The only criticism I want mention is your face mask should be N95 (it is not that expensive so mate don't be cheap about it), plus your gloves need to be nitrile gloves, some people are allergic to latex. Your black nitrile gloves are ok I would just use them when I work on my car not humans...lol (joking). Good point with the hazard bag, nice touch. It is funny you mention the blanket to keep the injured person warm, my friend was in a cache high up in a tree hunting, and something broke and she fell 25 feet down and broke her back, her husband was in another cache did not know she fell and of course when this happen mobile phones did not exist but she had a walkie talkie but it fell 15 feet away from her she could not reach it. Suffice to say 8 hours later still waiting for someone to come by, she was finally rescued and what saved her from further injuries is she was cold and apparently that helped minimize the worst scenario possible. Today she is still hunting but in a wheelchair.

Excellent video, I was looking for something like this. I would like to put together a range medical bag and a basic first aid kit. Thank you so very much for creating this video.

Pretty good kit all in all. Unless I missed it you don’t have a pocket mask for CPR? Drowning or electrocution victims may present a infection hazard. It’s interesting in the US apparently decompression needles are apparently included as part of the training for some FA training below the EMT level? I’ve been a level 3 attendant in British Columbia for years and never even touched on them, though we are trained and equipped to use oropharyngeal airways for decades. Then again we finally only accepted a place for tourniquets in the last 10 years or so long after the military and police had adopted them.

Great video! If I could make a couple points. I spend a lot of time driving on the road. I have came across several wrecks. I have training up to EMT advanced. I carry a full medic bag anywhere I go and in more than one occasion i have stopped at a wreck and there was and ER Doctor, RN ect who DO NOT carry their own gear and were able to use the gear that I had That I am not trained to use I.E. Intubation equipment.

here's where you got it wrong with the black gloves, its NOT about seeing the blood, its about seeing when there's a blood. For example the person you were treating was wearing black shirt or all of it was black, you scan his body for injuries, and since you're both wearing black, you couldn't tell when was that blood on your hands and you try to scan again, and now you smeared the blood all over the person you're treating and its all gone to crap. had you gone for white or bright colored glove, you wouldve easily seen when you had blood on your hands after touching which part of the persons body. there is no valid reason for you to wear black colored gloves
