I'm 53 years old and I have real respect for your love of your land. I have lived in the same house since 1968. My daughter grew up in my childhood bedroom and still stays there when she is home from college. Keep the dream alive of buying your uncle's old place it will come true if you focus on it hard enough. I'm trying to get the farm, my grandfather was raised on in 1911, back in our family, I'm not there yet but I'm closer than I was last year. If it means enough to you, you can find a way.

Happy Independence Day to you all. Katie, I sure hope you achieve your dream of regaining the family property. There is a small park in the town south of Muskegon Michigan, whose story always impressed me. It contains the last remaining acres of virgin forest in Michigan's lower peninsula. The man who donated it, when he was just a boy walked in these woods and loved them. As he grew up, it became his life goal to own them some day. He worked his whole life, making great sacrifices, to gain the money to buy the woods of his youth. Eventually, little by little he began purchasing the acres of dunes and trees. Eventually he achieved his goal. When he was an old man, he donated the land to the State of Michigan with the stipulation that the land can never be sold or forested, but will remain a park open for the public to enjoy. No one thought that the little boy with the dream of owning the woods would achieve his goal. He proved them wrong. Don't give up your love of the land or your dream of redeeming it! Loved the video.

I spent many hours and days on a family farm. There was a springhouse that I would spend time in. So nice and cool in the summer. In the spring house were little salamanders and crawfish. I was allowed to keep them in a bowl for the day but had to return them to their home at night. Loved the farm.

Down on Boones Creek since the 1860's have the Carters called this home. From whence the Lord has blessed up here in East TN. I've lived in GA, KY, eastern NC, TN and the Tidewater of VA. But in Boones Creek the Lord called me home to take care of my parents. They are gone now and the music in your family's heart keep me focused on my journey through life. Pluck those strings & smile often. Lord bless you

I absolutely love all of your videos along with The Blind Pig & The Acorn. I know I have said it many many times but ya'll just remind me of my childhood. Growin' up around a large loving family. Not to say we were always happy but Every Sunday when we all were at Grandpa and Grandma's all day, if someone was quarrelin', you weren't leaving Grandpa's until you were 'okay' and all feelings were good. You never touched the silverware until after Grandpa gave the Blessing (which sometimes seemed to take an hour). My friends and I had lots of woods to play in. We had "Bird Creek" that was our 'home'. I could go on and on... So, I feel a kinship with you all and the food you cook, the words and expressions you speak, the gardens and love of God's Created. It makes me so very very happy to know the 'ways' my friends and I remember and call "the good old days" are still a part of this world. I know we may never meet, although that would be such a dream. It's easy to watch your lives and get a feeling that you know all of us (on this side of the video) just as we feel we know you. And we who watch you regularly are like family to you too. But in reality we are strangers. Your hearts are so beautiful. Being proud of Appalachia and your culture and making a video asking neighbors what it means to them is so precious. Although, all of my family has passed on I'm so very blessed to have had those times, Bird Creek, and know that all of those memories are a part of my heart and make me who I am, why I care for God's creation and family. Thanks for taking me back to the good old days! All of you have special places in my heart and permanent places in my prayers.

Loved the speckled Sussex chickens. I live in my grandmother's house that passed on about 20 years ago. I had to completely remodel her house before I took over the property. My family has also let a lot of land go and I miss every single inch of it. I feel you on the digestive problems. I have Crohn's disease and it keeps me from being able to eat a lot of stuff straight from the garden. I'm supposed to be on a low fiber diet. Imagine all the stuff in the garden that is high in fiber. Almost all of it is. I struggle keeping to this diet because everything good for you seems to have a lot of fiber in it. Garden vegetables, fresh fruits, nuts, and seeds of any kind are all foods that I'm supposed to stay away from. It's pretty much a meat and potatoes for me, and as a result I find myself taking a LOT of supplements to get by. Love y'alls videos even though I have to admit that I sometimes get the two of you confused!! Sorry🤔 Keep up the great videos. God bless

I like how this video covered many different things that I could comment on, but I'll narrow it down to 2. 🙂As I was having a water well drilled last Friday on the farm place, different sizes, shapes and colors of rocks were pulled up to the surface that I'm sure eyes have never seen before. The deeper they drilled of course the tiny, smaller water sand rocks appeared. I thought of you and your love for rocks. Some of us Country folks here, call the Passion fruit May-Pops. I'm sure that you and Corie will raise your children as well as Mama and Daddy raised y'all, appreciating the good and sometimes hard times of the past generations! Just keep it Going!🙏🤗

I hope your dream comes true! It will if you want it to. You are so lucky. If we didn't move to Fl my parents wouldn't have moved. We grew up in a little house with 1 bathroom. I don't recall ever having any problems. I miss having no history. I never saw my grandparents. There was land that both sets owned but the communists took it. My grandfather had a flour mill. The other grandparents had their land taken by the Romanians...actually it was the Trianon Treaty that gave large portions of land to thecountries surrounding Hungary. I love your videos. Really enjoy this Day In The Life series where you two sisters show us around home, farm and town and what yall like to do. I too spent many happy hours growing up on a nearby creek. In central Texas it ran thru red clay country so the water looked like tomato soup. Still it held a wealth of wildlife, fish and crawdads. Summers I made up for it at my cousins in my native Alabama where the creeks look like yours. Please keep this series going. Happy Independence Day to the whole family.

@@thepressleygirls By the way it is a worthy goal to try to purchase the family land one day. I admire your feelings and hope it happens!

My vote goes for the salt cured ham. I think it is the best. Also jelly made from fox grapes is really good.

I really hope you get all that land you want! Never doubt that those things that seem impossible are absolutely possible! It might be a lot of money to acquire the land you want, but there is a whole lot of money available in the world....We live in an infinite Universe and we can have, do and be ANYTHING we want. All you have to do is believe.

Nice video. Corie, do you shop at Ken's Herbs on Pat Haralson Dr. north of Blairsville? Ken used to have a music store on Young Harris St. in a tiny building later occupied by a locksmith (might still be the locksmith). Katie, when the 4-Runner finally dies, you will have some boundary markers to use as you buy back the family land! I'll bet there are some salamanders in that creek, too, under flat rocks where it's shallow but stays wet. Thanks for posting!

Love the creek! I pray you will get your family land back one day. Y’all have so much fun together as a family. I take collagen in my coffee twice a day and I’m sort of a vitamin nut 🤪. Have you tried kefir or kombucha for your digestive issues? God Bless you girls 😇
