However, no communal violence erupted there because, the Meiteis did not go there to start the violence. However, in Churachandpur on 3rd May, 2023 when the peace rally ended, the Meiteis from Bishnupur came to Churachandpur in large number, set fire at one of the column of Anglo-Kuki War Welcome gate on the state highway. Thereafter, Kuki homes in Torbung were set on fire and one Kuki civilian youth was shot dead by the Meiteis who came with pistols. It may also be noted that prior to the incident, the Meiteis came to Thangting hills within Loikhai village land carrying pistols and carried out force plantation of trees. The weak and minority Kukis only retaliate in self defence as they never dare to attack first. While the centre may be blamed for not containing the violence, the fact remains that Manipur violence was started by the majority Meiteis with full backing of state government.

While people were out for a rally, some unknown people allegedly belonging to Meitei community burnt the Anglo-Kuki centenary gate. Kuki people were angry upon hearing the news. Yet, there was no retaliation as they could not find the culprits. However, very soon after that burning incident, a rally goer was beaten to death at Torbung by Meitei people. That's when Kukis started gathering in and around Torbung. Meanwhile, Meitei people burnt down houses in Kangvai (next to Torbung). And then Commandos and Police started firing upon the Kukis who gathered to protect their homes. First it was mob to mob, but the Commandos and meitei police fired upon the Kukis only. Besides a video clip also shows one Meitei in civil dress firing a pistol against the Kuki people. That's when some armed individual from Kuki came out. I dont know who they are. But they came out to protect their people and land, and not to attack anyone. If thise armed people really wanted to kill meiteis, they would have killed hundreds.

If Kuki-Zo territory Churchandpur which is in the southern part of Manipur and borders Mizoram is merged with Mizoram, problem will be solved. Meeteis can't buy land in Churchandpur as of now by law. So letting that part merge With Mizoram will bring peace in the long run. After all, the two communities can't live together now. So to avoid mutual killing, convert the present buffer zone to state boundary

Yes, Couple of Armed men were seen in the evening of the 3rd May and it was gone viral. But none of them took part in the rally nor retaliatory burning. They came down after fires were shot from the Meitei side. Just because clip of Meitei armed men didn't go viral doesnt mean there wasn't any. Listen to Mr Pramot, Meiter leepun leader, on how they prepared themselves before the tribal solidarity rally. Meitei started the violence before the 3rd May Rally. On 2nd May they blocked roads leading to tribals areas in what they called counter blockage even when there was no blockage by the tribals. The blockage was intensified on the 3rd May leading to the unfortunate flare up. Before the conflict I respected Bimol Akoijam as an Academician but not anymore. He just degraded himself as a Meitei Mouthpiece.
