The Rajya Sabha passed the Transgender Persons’ (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019, even though several opposition members urged the House to send the bill to a committee for further scrutiny. The Bill has now come under heavy criticism from transgender rights activists. Earlier it had already been passed by the Lok Sabha without much debate on Aug 5, 2019.

Happy that Trans bill only include the non criminalisation of sexual preferences. Same sex marriages and adoption rights should not be extended before achieving a minimal standard of income and education. Trans people should realize the misuse of these provisions by people who are into child trafficking and sex trade. Trans bill talks about how they wanna 'protect' the rights of transgender people. If you go over the bill and see the details, it has so many controversial aspects. One of them, if u rape, sexually assault, etc a trans person you will have way less punishment or prison time than you would have if you raped a cisgender female. Also, the bill doesn't talk about the adoption opportunities for trans people. Basically, if ur trans, you cannot adopt a child. I'm missing some points fs, i read about it like 4 months ago. Sorry!
