How to Plan the PERFECT Trip for First Timers at Universal Studios Orlando

In today's video, we talk about how to plan the PERFECT first time trip to Universal Studios Orlando! Tyler's mom is coming to visit for her first time in a few weeks, and it got us thinking: what's the best way to do this? I got to skydive one time and I feel like trips to Universal are kind of like that. I jumped out and fully embraced the rush, but when the chute opened, I took a deep breath, relaxed, and enjoyed the journey the rest of the way. One can never redo a first (at Universal or anywhere else), but the good news is, one doesn't have to chase that feeling in order to truly keep enjoying the time. You both are great examples of that truth. With you as guides, I'm sure Mom will have a fantastic and memorable start to her Universal Orlando experiences. 👍❤

We thought about it, but those three are just SO much more thrilling than Hagrid’s. Hulk literally makes me pass out, Hagrid’s just feels like you’re on a motorcycle lol. Still more thrilling than a lot of stuff at the parks!

Yall will enjoy your mom being there with yall. I rode velocicoaster and I guess being 64 yrs old, it was too much for me. I can't do it again. But I would ride Lightning Rod at Dollywood again. I thought it was intense but Velocicoaster makes it seem mild. But I will ride all other coasters. I know yall will have a fantastic time where here there.

Love this series! Cant wait to see more. I can say our first trip to Universal, which was only last year, was in a word.. overwhelming. We expected crowds, but we were still shocked to say the least. We ended up really enjoying the experience, especially HHN, so we went back this year and enjoyed it even more. I believe it will likely become a yearly thing if we can afford to do it. ❤ Also, it was an even more successful trip because of everything we've learned from you both. It really upped our universal game this year.

We definitely get the overwhelming part! We both had the benefit of experiencing for the first time as a kid, so it was just magical and we weren’t worried about logistics or anything lol we hope you get to come back soon! The parks are addicting!

When bringing someone to universal who isn't used to traveling and may be an older person they may get overwhelmed by everything. It may help to go into studios. Chances are there will be an area in there that reminds them of home. I live in rural southern ohio and the new York area looks exactly like the center of every small town around here. It really feels like home.

I love that you guys are planning to share the awesome experience of Universal with Tyler's mom! But oh my gosh, thinking about my first (and SO FAR only) trip to Universal has made me so desperately wish to go back and ride Hagrid's, Gringotts, ride the Hogwarts Express (like I know its only a way to get to the other side of the park but its still awesome and so Harry Potter themed! 😊), Velocicoaster, the Hulk, the Spider-Man ride, Revenge of the Mummy...-many MANY centuries later-or literally even just be able to walk around Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley... and eat fish and chips... ok and drink pumpkin juice. I miss Universal sooo bad (especially the Harry Potter areas, obviously 😅). Anyway, I'm happy I can still see you guys enjoy the parks. Thanks so much Pugh Two for your awesome videos! ❤

We got my mom (Anna) a wheelchair for her recent trip. She had a knee replacement earlier this year and just can’t walk all day long. She was really glad for it, and had such a great time! My mom isn’t a ride person either, but she loves seeing the wizarding world and watching all the shows!

Oh how I love Universal Orlando !! I went to Universal Studios Japan last week and boy oh boy it is a mess !! The park is tiny and they let way too many people in, you can barely walk and the wait times are through the roof ! (180 minutes to get a drink at Finnegan's ? 150 minutes to ride Hippogriff? no thank you haha) You can't have a fun day without an express pass, it's simply impossible ! (I'm so glad I splurged and got one) Super Nintendo World was absolutely worth it though ! Side note : I went on a random Tuesday in October - one of the ''slowest'' days of the week, I can't imagine what it's like during the weekends.

I would say step number one to planning any Universal trip is to watch all of your videos! I planned my trip heavily relying on your videos and you did not steer me wrong. Although I wish I would’ve seen a video about Tritons fury lol. Although it was so bad, it still makes me laugh to this day. We only have trips around the meetup dates. We went to our first one last year and will never do Universal with out it for the most part. We decided to try the meetups after my husband come back from deployment and didn't like to be around a lot of people. We enjoyed it and now this year we are going to all 5 meetups in December. A few things as well, I understand if saving money is the name of the game and it’s understandable if she stays at ya’ll’s house but staying at a park hotel also really helps. I know Dock side is the cheap hotel but we love it, that breakfast burrito and gf breakfast pizza are on point. And second you guys nailed it in this video but it’s doing whatever the person already loves, my mom isnt a big HP person but for some reason she loves the Blues brothers concert no clue why but we have to do that when we go, so yeah you can’t get enough of whatever your moms favorites are. Omg how exciting your taking your mom for the 1st time..i wouldn't plan it out just do it as it comes thats what i did when me and my sons went for the 1st time last Christmas..i had express passes so that definitely helped out but we did it as we saw the rides as we were walking around the parks no plans ahead of time and we had a blast..definitely take her to meet the grinch grinch or do the grinch breakfast it was alot of fun..

I live in the area and an annual passholder. You guys did an excellent job with planning first visit. I have planned Families First visit. Did not go that well. After about 4 hours in the park. Everyone had different ideas of what they wanted to do. I told my family , just tell me what attraction you want to go to and then I just pointed in that direction. I'm a bad passholder LOL still had a good time.

Great advice for a first time adventure. As a veteran I just get a drink from Chez wander until the drink is gone and then ride that ride im in front. back to chez for another drink and repeat. Same with IOA except drinks from watering hole. Once enough drinks have been had I attempt to find my way back to my hotel .Makes or an exciting day! lol

Pizza tots are phenomenal. Can vouch on skipping shows. My wife & I didn't really do shows until our trip last year & we loved the Animalsl Actors show & really enjoyed the horror makeup show. When you were talking about bad food I thought a certain place in Marvel Super Hero Island was going to get some shade lol. And having a plan (but not down to the minute) is incredibly important if there are certain "must dos." I always make a plan (I'm a planner for sure lol). I did got to Universal Hollywood as a kid and even though I enjoyed Disney Land more (for obvious reasons), I also end up loving that part too. The only 'ride' I remember we went on (keep in mind I was 9 and this was 1991), it was like a 'backstage pass' where we saw famous Cinema stuff from King Kong to Jaws to the famous courthouse in Back to the Future. Our guide was very funny. Do you know if Orlando has anything like that still? I know Orlando still has its Animal Training Show (that was my fav show at Hollywood, they had Lassie and Benji and other funny moments involving different animals). I do want to try a few things at Orlando that I use to do in Hollywood, IF it's still around because I did something similar when we went to Disney World's Magic Kingdom, like I was able to do Haunted House and the Jungle Cruise (still as fun as I remembered). Like I doubt Orlando has a Conan show lol. Only shows I'll avoid are anything that's going to affect my sensory issues for too long. Strobe lightning is a NO for sure, that's the worst. I am a huge pre-planner and I want to go to Universal with my brother and his family in the Winter (like in Early December) after Epic Universe opens up. My brother and his family prefer Universal over Disney now and they were supposed to come with my mom and youngest brother to Disney World, but he got last minute orders (he's military) to go to the Middle East (he was on base the entire time, so he was safe, thank goodness). But yeah I am either looking at Winter 2025 or Winter 2026 because I also want to go before my oldest nephew graduates HS (he's a Freshman in HS). Plus I am not getting any younger either, and I want to ride as many thrill rides as I am able to.

How does The Mummy compare to some of the rollercoasters at Dollywood and/or Disney? We've done Thunderhead, Big Bear, Everest, Big Thunder, etc. but we're taking our 11yo next summer to Universal for the first time and since we've never been on it, I'm curious as to how it compares in intensity. I heard it's comparable to Everest but in previous video Tyler said it's nothing like The Mummy 😆

Mummy is a very middle of the road coaster. I’d say it’s somewhere between space mountain and Everest. Mummy hits a top speed of 45, Everest is 50. If your 11yo didn’t have any issues with Everest, they shouldn’t with Mummy either!

July is usually pretty busy, but as far as days of the week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays *tend* to be a little slower

I've only been to Disney World and I just booked my first universal trip but I'm worried about the transportation. I'm get mixed info. Where do the buses pick up to go back to the hotels and are there clear signs for your hotel?

You’re gonna have so much fun! It’s way easier than Disney if you ask us. There’s lots of signs and hard to get lost. Plus, all the team members are super helpful. You can also look up a map to get an idea of where stuff is located beforehand! The buses pick up out front of the hotels. There are signs showing you exactly where, and also awnings and benches marking the area. Where they drop off/pick up at CityWalk is all in the same area with lots of signs directing you where to go!

It’s just different! Mostly during the holidays, you can’t just run over to your family’s house for the day. You have to plan everything out and coordinate with everyone. We love FL, but it’s just different!

is the escape from gringott ride ok for seniors? They dont like rollercoasters but I know there is just one drop that is really scary at the beginning

The first drop is about 30 feet. My mom rode it and survived, but she didn’t like it lol. That’s a hard one to judge!

Only decision left is do I... 1) warn them about the drop at the start so they can enjoy the rest of the ride 2) dont warn them and dont psych them out. sometimes worrying about something is the worst part

Tyler she will absolutely love it she will love all the different rides all the different themes to see about the park but don't take her on the hulk or rip ride rocket or she will go home pal take her om mummy and the I hope she loves it and has a great time pal

We’ve actually never done either one so we’re not really sure! I know Jackie Super Enthused covered the breakfast last year, although they’ve made some changes to it for this year. If I had to pick between one I’d probably do the character breakfast, but they both sound like so much fun!
