Amazing band. Changed my life. Changed my band. We had 8 songs on 4 radio stations in Atlanta in the mid 90's thanks to Material Issue. I love you Material Issue. So many great memories.

Hey man, that’s a huge accomplishment! Out of curiosity, what was your band called?

"It's an adventure!" I remember talking to Jim at Batteries, and visiting the band's bus in DC. The adventure is over but the music lives on.

Thanks for posting. I had the honor of knowing Jim personally growing up in Glendale Heights. Just as a human being, let alone a rock star, he is sorely missed.

I met Jim at Columbia College and saw him at The Cubby Bear. What a talent. Wrote the best girl songs ever.

As a college radio DJ in the early 90s, I loved discovering and playing their music. I still have the 3 albums and so wish they could have recorded more. Jim’s death was a great loss 😢

What an excellent mini-doc here! Thanks! They were an awesome band. I was 14 when I first saw them on 120 Minutes, (that sentence could be applied to so many iconic bands) and I remember realizing this was a fresh, different sound than I’d been getting into. This was power pop! R.I.P. Jim Ellison. Sorely missed. *side note: 10:33 radio listener Valerie Peters would be thrilled to see this! 🕊
