My Mr Kitty is well-adjusted. I feed him on a schedule he gets canned cat food at 8:00 in the morning and at 5:00 at night, throughout the day he has dry food that he can eat. When company comes he comes out to greet them he let the people pet him and Rose on his back to expose his belly for belly rub so he is very social and he's the only cat I have, but he loves people

@@njmcd my formerly feral senior rescue went from hissy old street cat to a huge, clingy, loving baby who follows me everywhere and must always be touching me, even if it's to gently place a paw on me. It took me a month to socialize the old man, but now he loves EVERYONE. He considers the spare bedroom (where he first stayed) to be HIS room, even though he has the run of the house. He gets mad if I sleep in the master bedroom, so I sleep in the spare room with him. He even has his own side of the bed! I couldn't be without him.

We have a part Russian Blue. She is impulsive. She loves routines!! I have to get up with her at 3am everyday. I usually go back to sleep.

We have 3 agreeable type cats and one dominant type cat. The funny thing is that the dominant cat is the smallest. She’s about 5.5 lbs but thinks she’s a saber toothed tiger. We call her an only cat.

These are well known traits used for human personality studies. As traits, they are seen more as possible components of a personality, in varying proportions, rather than as a single type. I'm not so sure this isn't projecting human motivations with the human based types onto cats, and not really reflective cat reasons for their behavior. Fun, but I'm holding my vote for now!

Usually my cat is more of the social type when it comes to seeing any of my friends visiting. She remembers one of them when she was a kitten so she knows for sure she is happy. Otherwise, she's a bit shy but will come out and interact.

My cat is lazy sleeps Almost all day and night. He was rescued as a kitten. never wanted to play but he will sleep with me most nights . Has no tail and can’t jump. He likes outside during the day but comes in at night. Yard is fenced so he never goes outside the yard. There are two other cats and is agreeable with them.

Gizmo is a bit of a combination I suppose. Mostly neurotic with a some agreeable traits. With me, she's very loving and affectionate. But she wants to hide from any strangers.

Two cats - (both rescues) 1- Tink - neurotic (and agreeable). She loves me and will hang out with me, but the running joke in my house is that any changes to furniture placement or company/deliveries that sort of thing, must be submitted to management 3 days in advance for approval. She is skittish, and will choose to hide or just stay in the peripheral unless she wants something like “brushies” or food, or attention, and then she is right there in your face asking for it. But the Tv (strangely the intro screens with words seem worse) music, visitors? Forget about it. Peace out. 2- Chance - extrovert (a little all of the others honestly). He will jump off the porch and chase the birds or squirrels or sneak off into the woods when I’m not looking (we go out for fresh air together and I feed the birds almost daily) - it’s not really woodsy more like a thin tree line, so he’s easy to find and it helps he has zero camouflage being mostly white 😂 aka impulsive. He loves puzzles, boxes, bags, smart, he can find his way into luggage not zipped all the way, and opens doors. Then he sleeps next to me all night which seems more on the agreeable side. He also wakes up anxious (I call it waking up needy cat), if he wakes up and forgets where he is or can’t spot me right away. He’s not overly dominant, but I think it’s because he was bullied in his foster home and was small then but had to stand up for himself, so he tries to flex and we all laugh and Tink the sweet Princess beastly curb stomps him if he gets out of line (once in a blue moon). Which is hysterical. He follows me everywhere. Both of them have a routine that I am highly integrated into and have mercy if we deviate. 🤣 You’d think they were feral the way they yell at me. Yet a loud noise will send them both in a panic especially since we had an emergency and had to leave a townhouse because the one next door was on fire. Not sure they fully recovered from that. I love them both dearly.

personality groupings can be fun, but I think it's harmful when people get too attached to them and forget that individuals don't fit into neat boxes. Neither of my 2 cats fit perfectly into any of these categories.

Sure it's fun, but the point is missed entirely when that viewpoint is taken. It is also extremely helpful for understanding your unique individual cat, as the video kindly explains. Not a single cat in existence would fit into one box (unless it's cardboard) a that is not the point of doing this. The personality types give you a direction to go in order to better understand how your intelligent and living companion experiences the world and behaves. Knowing a fruit is an orange is helpful, why wouldn't it be for more complex organisms?

None of my cats fit into any of these categories either. My Bash is dominant but not in an aggressive way, more in a playful way. He is very loving to me and my other cats. My Tuna is very agreeable but also very bossy. He knows my schedule better than I do! If I start getting ready for work at a time he knows I should be home he tries to block the door so I can't leave. My Skeep sticks mainly to herself enjoying alone time atop her kitty tower. She decides when its time for attention and she will end up glued to my lap when it's time. My wifes Midori is kinda slow and chill. She loves her morning playtimes and just lounges around all day. She is what we call a "junk food kitty" though. If she hears a bag of any kind she comes a-runnin even if she doesn't every eat anything in those bags.

My female, Meeko, definitely fits the Neurotic type while my male, Gizmo, is definitely the extrovert. I always thought Meeko was anxious and wanted to hide more due to the fact that she was a feral kitten when we accidently trapped her in our old apartment at the age of 6-8 weeks old. She's now 5 years old but still gets anxious quite often, will hiss, bite and scratch if you try picking her up and still hides most of the time. Gizmo was found as a sick stray also at the age of 6-8 weeks old with both eyes infected and an upper respiratory infection. He's now 6 years old.

Neurotic and agreeable. Definitely intelligent and loves all animals, but also anxious and very dependant on me. He talks a lot, all the time and runs upstairs to let me know when my hubby comes home from work. I know he's intelligent because he stopped trying to get out thru the window once I said no. He also figures out alternative routes to his favorite places fast. One time he ate some of our plant and vomited, hasn't gone near them since. And his routine is the same every day and night. If i don't go to bed at the same time as usual he starts bossing me around and tries to get me to go to bed lol. After about 30mins of petting he leaves and sleeps in his own room until the morning.

My cats have different purrsonalities brave inside but someone comes to the door and they are under the bed. Dominant downstairs with their daughter but terrified elsewhere - like upstairs. I have 4 - 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. Integrating has been difficult.

We have 2 agreeable, 1 neurotic & Dexter, I think an extrovert. We rescued feral Dexter, 8 weeks old, who was separated from his mom, probably as he was adventurous. He was crying loudly & hanging out under car hoods. He may have been brought to our neighborhood under a car hood &so lost his mom. He's a real character but loving too.

I have an aggreable cat in my Cid who is also the most destructive creature alive. I'd say he's extroverted, too, because he gets into EVERYTHING and purrs nonstop. He also snores as loud as a man lol. Then there's Princess Garnet who I think is mostly dominant but definitely anxious and possibly neurotic. We adopted her when she was already an adult at six (whereas Cid was a six month old) so can only guess at her history. However, we think she might have suffered some abuse as she only stopped flinching when we'd put our hands over her head maybe a year ago (we've had her since 2018). She also bullies Cid *sigh* so we're working on getting that under control.

My 14 yo Penny is a quiet girl. However! Behind that sweet demeanor is a guard kitty. She will puff up like a Halloween cat, walk toward, and silently swipe at a dog she is not happy with until it bares its belly in submission. "Please don't kill me! Please don't kill me!" She's done it enough times to know it's part of her "job description". 😂 Then there's 12 yo feral Cody. He runs the household by politely asking me to do his bidding. However! He may be asking on behalf of the girls including my 10 mo feral kitten, Hope. With wet food, I don't know if it's for him, all of them, or one or both of the girls unless he walks away. 😂 Hope? She's a little spitfire full of energy who's extroverted and domineering. If she wants a particular spot for herself she will push the other one out of the away. She's very playful and brought _me_ a toy the first time she wanted to play fetch. Whoa. Of the 22 furballs I've had, she's the only one to instigate. Her fav toys are feathers from the free range chickens where we live. Again, she brings _me_ the feather when she wants to play. 😹 What a trio I have! 🥰

It's so unfair our cats now have a leash law. No cat can be outside wandering around...like there instincts want. A 30 or 40$ fine if they catch them. And when the inactive this law they(animal shelter) went around picking up all the cats. 😮 Now my outside cat has to be walked the 3 others also.
