while Gore is at the top of the list for understandable reasons i still prefer Xeno'Jiiva. it's the design and the mystery behind it, not to mention it's lore (tied in with the second) and attacks, that should land it at number 1, personally anyway. but if he couldn't make it then at least another favourite of mine made the top of your list, and he kept it for Gog knows how long! impressive to say the least. also was Regnilla busy at the time? because you two making Monster Hunter related videos is AWESOME! hopefully you'll meet again and hack away at the monsters of the New World.

Just HOW THE HELL CAN A NERGIGANTE KILL THE ZORAH MAGDAROS?! Seriously, if an Elder Dragon hunting its fellow kin is going up against a member that's practically a sentient volcano kaiju, either the Nergigante won't win at all or the Nergigante will need to get creative with how it would take it down, if the Zorah itself doesn't kill it first! Hey, QG, IF there ever is (and it obviously very likely won't ever happen) a Monster Hunter game in which you play as a monster in nature undisturbed by Hunters attempting to survive the harsh world and all that is presents, the Frenzy Virus and the Elder Dragons included, what monster would you want to control? If that doesn't sound like a good question to you, then what's your least and most favorite Monster Classes in the franchise, but mainly the least as I think you said in the original list that your favorite monster class is the Elder Dragon class. What Monster Class is your least favorite?

@@opusmagnus26 the part where you asked if they'd make a MH game where you play as a monster... i agree with you on that. ever heard of the Carnivores franchise? it's 3rd installment, Carnivores Ice Age, was the first one i played. i thought selecting the animal meant PLAYING as the animal and back then there were only 2 to choose: the Brontoteriy and the Wolf, then i got to the weapon section and thought:"why would a wolf need a gun to hunt?". next thing i knew i saw a wolf and went close to it, i was like "oh hey, fellow wolf!" only to go in my head "HOLY SH** that scared me to bits!" (the wolf killed me). the camera spins and zooms out when you die and found out i was playing as a human. my point is, if what you said actually happens then it would mean to me an old dream come true (even if it would probably never happen, as you said).

For the concept of playing as a Monster, it may very obviously never happen for the entire risk of screwing over the series when it just became popular world wide. I imagine the exact same would go with a spinoff game involving riding, taming, and fighting Monster Tamers and Riders.

Honestly I hated it because I was a dumbass kid not knowing what builds are and used the rathalos set... you know the set that has like negative 15 dragon resist. Thankfully I barely beat it because rathalos sword and shield is fire ailment.

Yan Garuga was my bane and my favourite monster in MHF. I had to make it retreat 7 times before I was able to kill it. Because it was tied to some mythological deamon in folklore ^^ still my favourite armour design and weapons. Next to fatalis

Personally I prefer Gore Magala to Shagaru. Mainly for the design, the cape, the colour scheme, and the fact that it reminds me of Alien, one of my favourite movies. In terms of my favourite creature design, few creatures can match the sheer depth of Vaal Hazak and Zinogre imo. Overall though, my favourite monster across the board has to be Deviljho.

Honestly to this day my favorite monster in both design, fight, and music is Valstrax hands down. The monster looks absolutely gorgeous in that metalic silver with the hints of black and red throughout its body and when broken the flaming dragon element face just adds to its level of anger. The fight itself feels like dance at times dodging its attacks, plus the level of creativity with its wings acting both as swords and gun hands for the dragon, and most importantly the red comet attack....seeing it launch up into the sky, circle, then dive bomb you at mach 2 just felt amazing (plus the minor detail of the music becoming muted with a ringing sound when it lands for a moment). Lastly the music...god i love that track, there's such an air of epic to it where it swells to this large point making you feel absolutely empowered with that large choir moment (and it feels absolutely amazing when that part kicks in during the red comet attack).

A neat detail that wasn't noted is that Mizutsune are usually peaceful creature, you're just fighting males caught up in the frenzy of mating season which, like with most creatures, has them become very territorial and aggressive. Edit: Misspelled 'males'.

I thought the bleed status drained your health if you so much as moved, not only when you use stamina. Also, has anyone else noticed that the Seregios actually has a fighting style and behavior that resembles the monster hunters themselves? A creature that goes after the apex predators of an area despite not being as tough as a lot of toehr monsters, and has an evasive fighting style where it wears down its prey over time with a whole lot of blades and ranged attacks.

My favorite has to be the Ahtal-Ka. She’s a giant golden mantis themed after an Egyptian pharaoh. It lives in the remains of stolen human fortresses and it’s the first insect final boss. What makes it so special is how it fights. It can throw webbing to ensnare you or grab a makeshift weapon from the scrapyard surrounding it. However that’s only phase one. The real meat of the battle comes when it pulls the rubble together to make a GIANT MECHA made out of stolen fortifications! No seriously!

I personally think the reason nergigante is also so successful with the gore magala formula is because to me nergi just feels like a more feral and beastly version of gore and by extension shagaru and not to mention I think they both have similar if not identical animation skeletons and they are also the closest to story recurring rivals in the specific story their in. This is before iceborne, in iceborne ruiner is easily tied with shagaru and gore as my favorite monsters, their just so badass

My two most favorite subspecies are the Stygian Zinogre cause what's better then an "SSJ Lightning Wolf" a "SSJ4 Lightning Wolf" and the Abyssal Lagacrius this jet-black female only subspecies to 3: Ultimate's flagship monster according to the lore is bigger and stronger then her male cousins basically making them look like little lizards there's a reason why she has the in-game lore nickname of Queen of the Deep and the fan-given nickname of Queen Abyss.

Seregios is pretty cool because it fights similarly to the hunters themselves. A relatively weaker creature that takes down apex predators through blades and long-range attacks that whittle down the enemy's health and stamina over time while evading attacks directed at it.

Well scythes are terrible weapons. Gaunlets on the other hand are easily great weapons if done correctly since hell you can grab the damn monsters horns from behind and potentially break them.

Most of my friends and I have played MH at some point or other, and I can honestly say that Zinogre appears in all of our top tens. Sure, some of us like it more than others (personally it's in my top 3), but not one of us has a problem with it. Weird.

I like Gammoth. They’re very underrated and I love their eye pattern and cyclops design, having that giant ivory shield on her head like an eye, like how when people first found Mammoth skeletons we thought the trunk hole was an eye socket. I'm going to be honest: Nergigante would be the only Monster from World to be in my Top 10 and he would be at Number 9 or 10, maybe 8. I just don't like the Monster fights in World as much as in previous games. They take to long and are not really difficult, except Nergi and Odogaron. But they cannot compaire to Valstrax or Athal-Ka. Oh and by the way: Valstrax would be my Number 1. Such a great fight.

When it comes to the monsters of Monster Hunter [well at least the one in MH4U] there's one that really made a huge impression and that is The Heaven Revolution Light Dragon, The Reincarnation of Light & Darkness, The Shagaru Magala!!

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate didn't introduce many new monsters (most were Deviants if anything), but I'd bet you'd love Valstrax and Ahtal-Ka. Valstrax, to quote ragegaming, is a rocket powered elder dragon, using a special fluid as fuel to allow it to fly at supersonic speeds. (And use dragon element attacks) It's fast and punishing, but I find it a pretty fair fight overall. Ahtal-Ka on the other hand is a *bug* that uses gathered materials to make a giant mech it uses as a throne. I will give one hint with Ahtal-Ka for your fight: the mech is one giant treasure trove, bring *LOTS* of pickaxes and prepare to go an a treasure hunt. Mining points everywhere when it's toppled. Id say Tobi is more a Smaller easier Zinogre. Being the fact they both shoot elec projectiles, are both very Acrobatic, and both have a lightning rage more they have to build up before unleashing. As I fought it the frist time all I could think was "Oh My God mini Zin is so fast!" I won't say that makes him bad because of that tho if anything I think it made him better with that thinking as it kinda making him a good training partner before going up against a Zinogre laster when they added him in dlc.

I think they may not want to do gauntlets because Tokiden already beat them to it, and it may just seem like copying, but monster hunter has many clones of it, so who says Capcom can’t have “influenced” weapons with varied mechanics to the ones that they inspired. Only about 4 weapons are truly unique to monster hunter and those weapons are gunlance, insect glaive, switch axe, and charge blade.

Ledges are definitely not leagues better than water combat. Those things can be just as infuriating. Especially when entire areas are designed around them as they fuck you up a lot more than they help you
