The reason why Baxter, is white in the original cartoon, is bc the way shredder treats Baxter, the ppl working at fred wolf productions, they felt like it wouldn't be a good look. They didn't want to get a lot of angry letters.

That unknown piece is a miniature model of the Rextab Building. In Issue#2 of the Mirage Comics TMNT, he makes a terroristic video while holding the model where he's holding the city hostage for a billion dollars. If the City of NY didn't pay the ransom, he'd use the Mousers to collapse the buildings from underneath. He destroyed the Rextab Building as a preview for what he would have done to one of the World Trade Center Towers. The Rextab Building is actually the Baxter Building from the Fantastic Four! Rextab is "Baxter" backwards!

Love that figure! The only time Baxter was Caucasian was in the 80s cartoon for whatever reason haha, I grew up with the 2003 cartoon where he was black and my favorite iteration of the tmnt which is the 2012 era which he was also black

Same. I was not able to get the original comics because the comic shops use to age restrict specific series. Lobo always comes to mind.

You learn something new every day. I think he looks cool regardless. And it's a nice piece to add to your precious collection. He looks like a nerdy version of Eddie Murphy 😂. I also don't care about the race of his character. Sometimes, it is just best to leave well enough alone , though. Just like I had no idea that Charlie Buckets from the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Later, known as Willy Wonker and the Chocolate Factory, was originally a black kid. But author Roald Dahl was persuaded by his agent to change him to white. Out of fear, his book would not appeal to a certain group of readers 🫣. According to his widow at the time. On another note I think the thing with black nerds/blerds like myself in the 80s were an unknown to society. It was like a white person being a Goth. It was odd then but now it is widely accepted that blerds exist thanks to movies like, Hidden Figures and characters like Steve Urkel. Baxter was made black in the 2003 cartoon and the 2023 movie Mutant Mayhem. So society and culture have matured over the past 20 years. Lmmfao. Nerd/blerds = $$$$ now. I think the media and made up demographics pushes a lot of social hangups back then and currently.

I remember when I first discovered that Stockman was originally a black character - I had the same initial reaction - who dis? Then I was like, WTF guys, why'd your change the character for the cartoon? Yay 80s white washing! Fair point about not wanting Shredder belittling a black man constantly though. Did you know that Shredder is voiced by Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince? I found that out really late too :P
