It's because the other Mezco figures tie in more accurately to the origins of the turtles in their appearance. Remember the turtles started out as anything but a kid friendly 80s cartoon.

The issue with this set is all four should have came with trenchcoats & hats, also each turtle should have came with 4 heads. Ralph doesn’t have a happy face & Donatello doesn’t have an angry face sculpt so the four turtles can’t match with all angry or all happy faces for display.

Maybe because it’s a bit of a cash grab repaint, which is a bit of a let down for Mezco. The head scopes are mad derpy, the Realistic scoulpt call the body doesn’t match and last two points. It will not even really matching the animated theories more the images use for advertising and merchandise not the way they were drawn on the actual show in the last point is you even said it, the last set was perfect came with more accessories for the same price for a better design turtle

A better repaint is a mirage-style turtle with all them raph heads-I mean, red bandanas. The body and texture suit that style better, imo. Cartoon turtles deserve whole new bodies.

I think the open eyes look a little jarring because the Iris is not anchored to any of the outer part of the eye. I'm cartoons if this doesn't happen it makes the character look odd like these do. Except the scared michealangelo head I think the iris' being centered on that gave the perfect effect.

I got this set. I'm happy I got them but I'm a little upset that these were the same price as the original release but with less accessories. They should have came with clothe goods. I'm a little iffy on some of the head sculpts and it's crazy that Mikey only came with 1 spinning nunchuck instead of the 2 that the original had.

3 of the 4 turtles had their go to faces. 1. Raphael- serious or unrelenting 2. Leonardo--authoritative or leading 3. Michelangelo--Happy go lucky 4. Donatello--Lost in thought I didn’t get the facial expression for Donatello. He should have had a look of planning ahead or the look of a scientist (thinking look) trying to solve a problem. So I passed on the original set (mostly because I had just got the NECA comic book 4 pack from Haul-a-thon) and when people started reviewing them I knew I had screwed up so I jumped on these animated ones. My only gripe with the set was the lack of a serious face for Donnie, other than that I love the set! I also found an ebay seller selling 3d prints of the serious heads from the first set, so I grabbed them and painted to match the animated bodies, now I kinda have the best of both worlds! Great review/unboxing!

QueenG22.These toys are crazy cool and you are lucky to have them in your collection. I don't know why they don't make a 16 points of articulation first wave 1987 toy line. Just like they did for He man motu. I am being honest. I love the vintage turtles from playmates toys. They are the best tmnt toys for me. That being said they kind of sucked. Because they were stuck in that same pose and they would never stand up. The weapons would break even back in the day just trying to put them in the turtles hands not all the weapons but definitely some of them. Imagine those toys the same exact toys down to the T. But with articulation and swap out heads weapons everything that was in this big box of stuff you have in front of you. Tmnt origins toy line. I think that is what tmnt fans want. Great video as always

nice ...Playmates/Loyal Subjects / Neca /, Mezco/ Revoltech /SHFigarts/ 3rd Party ......im all for the variety of the TMNT Figures, they are well made , To me the first set was better........ my only Gripe here are the alternate headsculpts.......Leo and Raph are ok for the most part , but Mike and Don ."deer in the headlights " smiling look isnt for me, but the set is decent with the multitude of accessories. for that $400.00 price tag........ it should be near flawless. it would be nice to get smooth detailed toon Turtles based on the 1987 original intro headsculpts/ body proportions

I was wondering when you were going to review this set. I was wondering what you were going to say about all of Donnie's heads 😅 Those daggers with the handle perpendicular to the point of the blade are push/punch daggers. The one you called a dagger is specifically called a kunai. I think you correctly mentioned Raphael's clubs as tonfa, but I may have misheard since you were kind of mumbling 😜 that kama looking weapon with a curving blade, I believe is called the kyoketsu-shoge (a sickle and chain weapon) but the turtle toys never had the chain and ring attached. Always biased against Leo 😆 Next stop, maybe Super7's 2003 figures or maybe JoyToy's 1/18th scale figures...

Less accessories than the first release, and Donnie got the worst selection of heads. Plus it being a surprise drop. Couldn't justify going for this set.

the mezco toon figures have the same bodies of the original mezco figures with new heads. To me, it looks like a rushed job. It looks nothing like the toon figures from the series. Again, this is because theyve just used the previous mezco bodies. So each figure is a different size and shape, but in the show, they all had the same size and shape. The front shell with the rough hard look also doesnt match the show. And the accessories are rubbish. It would have been great to have each turtle with a trench coat and hat. Ultimately, Im not paying AU $900 for these. I got the first set, and they were great
