Coasterman13 Official not yet. Just speculation, but if SMI wanted to float the bill, they could move the All Star Race to Rockingham. The All Star Race has been rotating venues every year. Personally I wouldn’t thought Charlotte Dirt Track for this, but the All Star Race has been in Charlotte for years until 2019. Plus NASCAR Teams are headquartered in North Carolina (Charlotte), so Rockingham could work for the All Star Race. I would say start Rockingham with the All Star Race and if proven well, move it to a points race potentially in NHMS’ spot or the Charlotte ROVAL in the fall

i race it on virtual nr2003 that one mile oval track was so good have better turns between 3-4, the bankings feels iced sliding, the track knowns as the tire eater like cheese grater unfortunate this track such a fun racing. but much dissapointed abandoning this famous track for nascar cup series...fckn Brian France thnk u for all of this

It depends on how recent this video is. The track looks way cleaner than it appeared in a new segment about its now ownership from a year or so ago. If this was taken last week is say the track might be race-able, but if it's from years ago the track might be in way worse shape

It's hard to tell from Google Maps if the facility is race-ready today. But... I don't see any weeds growing out of the track. I'll take that as a good sign that it's still being maintained.

@@marshalldog2559 Another issue is getting all the infrastructure for timing and scoring back up and running. Also nascar doesn't own the track so they can't keep the TV money with a track they own or with one thats currently on the schedule.

@@tylerstooksbury3050 I'm pretty sure Rockingham is owned by a private group other than ISC or SMI. I'm sure if NASCAR needed a track and Rockingham were in decent shape they would have worked out a deal. I knew the truck series had races there in 2012 and I thought ARCA had been there more recently, so I thought the track was still being kept in moderately good shape. I thought it was even used for Cup series testing still. Doesn't look like that's the case.

The Rock is my favourite oval along side Nazareth motor Speedway . NASCAR loves getting rid of unique tracks with character. Instead that keep cookie cutter mile and a halfs where the racing sucks. I hope they bring this back same as North Wilkesboro.
