@MrZirallam2201Ай бұрын
Just multiply the numbers on your dilution ratio to get the needed amount of water easier. Ex. Dilution ratio - 1:3 25ml shampoo times 3= 75ml So 25ml shampoo plus 75ml of water=100ml or 4 parts total 4:06

For metric calc, the big number always go on right side, for example 1:10, 1:30, 1:40. Another point 3:1 is the same 1:4, 9:1 is the same 1:10 To mix 800ml in in 1:10 do the math: 800 / 10 = 80ml (1 part) 800ml - 80ml = 720ml (9 parts)

Anthony great explanation. But I have a tip. I always pour the water in first, then pour chemical in. A lot of chemicals will foam really bad if you do it the other way. Especially with APC and degreasers. In your ounce example it would also help with knowing you got 8 ounces of chemical because the container should have a 24 ounce mark, and 32 ounce mark. Thanks for posting.

Common knowledge in the detailing industry for mixing liquid concentrate chemicals with water is missing for some reason. Wear the minimum PPE as mentioned in the products SDS (gloves, eye protection, ect.). When mixing concentrated (>10%) aqueous chemicals (such as acids, bases and oxidizers), ***always*** pour the more concentrated solution (Brake Buster, Super Clean, Wheel Acid, ONR, ect.) into the less concentrated one (water).
@AdamosGarage2 ай бұрын
Is there a reason all of your IK bottles have different sprayers on them? Benefits? Reason? Thanks!!
@KevinE923 күн бұрын
This is what makes sense for me. If using a 1:4 ratio then there are 5 parts total (1 is always the chemical/solution amount) --> so you take 1 part chemical divided by the total parts to find the dilution percentage (1/5 = 20%) --> then take the dilution percentage (20%) and multiply by the total amount of volume (ex: 1000ml) to get your dilution amount (200ml). Formula: total volume amount - dilution amount = water amount Therefore, 1000ml - 200ml (1000ml * 20%) = 800ml water Ex: for ounces --> 32oz - 6.4oz (32oz * 20%) = 25.6oz water
@hamsack9813 жыл бұрын
Thank you I was a bit confused. Some companies use 3:1 and others do 1:3. I'm glad that you cleared up that the smaller number is always the solution you're using. I did what you said and assumed that three to one meant three parts solution One part water. I thought that sounded weird. Thank you!
@DrippinWetDetail2 жыл бұрын
I thought this was weird too. However, I was always told the correct way of writing and reading dilution ratios was product always listed first and water second. I guess I’m confused why their couldn’t be dilutions that contain more product than water like 3:1 meaning 75% solution and 25% water. Why wouldn’t this be possible?
@ResortGaming4 ай бұрын
So if something just says 4 : 1 I can do 4 gallons to 1 gallon? Or like 4 oz then add 1 oz of product?

I never found it difficult when it came to dilution ratios but I can see where it can be confused with dilution factors. Hope this helps everyone that may get confused with the two. And I believe some products exist where it’s x parts product to 1 part water. Meguiar’s M799 bead booster for example says 3 parts product to 1 part water.

When u mix the water and concentrate can u shake it to mix the solution up or would that create to much foam. If that is true, how would you suggest mixing the solution with out creating to much foam once its in the foamer. Could u premix it another container and then dump it in the ik foamer. Just looking for a few suggestions on how to mix the chemicsl and actually have a little more success using ik foamer.

Aren’t the ik bottles ready for dilution ratios? No need for that middle extra step with the jar.
@frankcastle52946 ай бұрын
Simple quick answer: If your foamer is a 50 ounce style for example...you will be filling it with 45 ounces or so of water to leave a bit of air space in the container. Use warm water...stir in concentrate with spoon....add 2 ounces of quality foamer concentrate and no more. There.

Good explanation video Anthony. However, you never delved into metric side of what is a gallon converted to metric. From memory of my time in the USA, a gallon converts to approx. 3.8litres. Where everywhere else in the world that are in metric, 1 gallon converts to 4.5litres. Even though the ONR cap is 1/2oz, in the metric part of the world we still need to know how many litres of water is required . If there is any doubt, this website will convert Gallon(s) to Litre(s) for the US, UK, AUS.
