I'm not trying to sound arrogant or snobby, but you don't need to pre-wash the rims and the exterior paint with water. That's what pre-wash soap is for... to break down and emulsify the dirt before contact washing. As for the rims, one would use a product such as PNS Brake Buster or wheel cleaner to pre-treat and break down the dirt.

“pre rinsing” helps to blow out brake dust as well, this is especially helpful for eliminating the squeaking from ceramic brakes
