The cars of Boise have been subjected to yet another round of "dirty rain" and this time Yvan Lacroix was in town to experience it. Of course, "dirty rain" means that there are a ton of cars to be cleaned, and today's filthy Ford Mustang GT was no exception. In the spirit of competition, Yvan challenges Anthony to a faceoff: The traditional soap & water car wash method using Koch Chemie KCX Gentle Snow Foam (GSF), versus Optimum No-Rinse rinseless wash.
So, who won? Which method cleans better? You're just gonna have to watch to find out!
✨ P R O D U C T S U S E D:
Optimum No-Rinse (ONR) - theragcompany....
KCX Gentle Snow Foam (GSF) - theragcompany....
TRC Ultra Black Sponge - theragcompany....
Stjarnagloss - theragcompany....

We already know that a good rinseless is safer for clear coat than soap, which is why it was invented in the first place. I was sceptical, too, before I tried it. Now I hardly foam, because I can get a wash done in the amount of time it takes to setup the pressure washer, fill the cannon, fill buckets, deal with long hoses, etc.
@stephen1503

Wouldn’t matter. Could rinseless wash a perfect paint car and people would still complain about the smallest minute issue. Plus, how many people 1) actually have true perfect or highly corrected paint 2) generally people with corrected paint are going to have it coated and/or garage kept anyway. It’s not just rinseless. It’s every freaking detail product, this industry is fulll of toxic conversations lol. All the sane & kind people know what’s really up.

I personally would have liked to see the two methods done (pre treat, snow foam and two bucket method with wash mitt, towel dry) on a car that has had paint correction then see if either one has created any marks or swirls to the paint considering the argument has been made that rinse less is safer or is it just safer for novices?

I do both, for me it completely depends on the car contidion and what exactly I am after at the end. I see rinseless as a great fast maintance but you cannot beat foam/pre wasg for a proper deep wash. My main issue is moss, mildew, getting in the tiny gaps. My main method on my own personal car now if its bad is a vb or green star pre wash then rinseless no snow foam unless i am doing a full decon wash

I use ONR or ONRW&W 99% of the time nowadays as it has proven itself for me. But if my cars are really dirty I do like to pre-wash it using 3D Pre-Soak and a foam cannon. And if I'm doing a decon on them I will usually do a traditional two-bucket soap wash preceded with the foam cannon.

Haha no that’s definitely not something you can normally do on a car wash wand. The want they use in this video is a special “short nose” unit from MTM Hydro that allows you to swap the lance for a foam cannon, etc. or just use it as a short handle with a nozzle and no wand. Look up the magnum 28 kit by MTM hydro on the rag company’s website.

I like rinseless for those quick in between main wash washes. Just to keep things nice and shiny. However for actual regular maintenance "deep cleans" I still prefer soap. Particulary for my multi-stage washes I like to first foam pre-treat with a high activity foam like Bilt Hamber Touchless or Auto Foam (into which I might add some Green Star, or Bilt Hamber Surfex HD). Followed by a 2 bucket wash with something like Carpro Reset or Descale, Koch Chemie GSF or Reactivation shampoo. All that followed by a properly lubricated towel dry with something like a Beadmaker/Dream Maker mix, Avalon King Armor Shield Lite, Shine Supply Punch-It, DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss, and many more...Then I sit back light up a stogie and stare into the infinite abyss of nothingness and meaninglessness for 5-10 minutes...

Is there any point to pre rinse if your going to use foam? Surely a dry surface will allow the product more contact and therefore clean better.
@mcmahonem1
@mcmahonem1 2 жыл бұрын
I like to pre-rinse because it knocks all the big stuff off the car. Just foaming can leave the dust and pollen in the foam, then your wash media rubs it into the paint. It just seems safer to rinse first since the pressure washer is already out.

There is no need to pre-rinse if the foam we is being used as a pre-wash before a contact wash, since the pre-wash will be rinses. In this video the pre-rinse is necessary because they both did a 1 step contact wash and you want to get surface dirt off before rubbing it in with the contact step.

Why not use both? My wash process starts with a ONR presoak to remove most of the contaminates, a water rinse followed by foam applied from a Marolex pump sprayer and then a soap bath. For extremely dirty areas I throw in some Green Star. The wash mitt glides in slickness over the surface for that ultimate glossy clean look! If I had access to a pressure washer, I'd jump straight into a foam cannon, but I generally use a Worx Hyrdoshot for most of my washes.
@nomad509

@KrisClean hey Kris, I just saw this notification. I am an apartment dweller currently so I don't have access to my pressure washer so limitations with water exist. A good presoak with products like ONR and KCX GS are very helpful. I just find ONR helps for surface lubricity for soap washes when foam cannons are not a part of the process.

I use both but a little differently. I live in a condo (no hose) but live near a wand wash. Starting at the wand wash, I bring my own pump sprayer (iK Pro Foam 2) and pre-soak with traditional car soap foam (DIYDetail Incredible Suds), then pressure wash with the "spotless rinse" water. Then back at the condo, I pre-soak with ONR with the pump sprayer, then 2-bucket wash with ONR. So the only mechanical contact occurs after pre-soaking with both soap and ONR.

I don’t know why they call it rinseless, it doesn’t describe what it does

@@theragcompany but nobody cares about that, the point is it doesn’t scratch your paint, it should be called scrathless wash

Imagine defending foam over rinseless because "its fun"

A quality soap cleans and is far slicker than any rinseless on the market. Fck the "fun" part. Now if your goal is to be quick as possible (if your into detailing your own shit, your not tryna be done as quick as possible) then rinseless is your go to, sacrificing paint safety of course.

What do you do with the black sponge after each use ? Does it need to be washed in machine or air dry? How do you get into the tighter areas the black sponge won’t get?

wait? wont the rinse less method scratch the paint when you run a sponge over dirt?

Yes, they claim it wont but it does. Its common sense. If your gonna wipe off instead of rinsing, expect more scratches.

you should test which method applies less scratches and swirls after a correction.

paint correction. park outside for 2 weeks to mimic cure time on a ceramic coating. tape down the center. brand new microfibers, wash mitts, drying towel. take a video of the car after the wash to see which method applies the least scratches.
