They tell me not to worried 😦 we all going to die and don’t even enjoy that money. Others give me ideas on how to invest the lil money We have saved. My dad ask me once why my husband work so much and so hard 😂 I told him so he don’t have to work as much and as hard when he gets old he laugh and said but that’s when you work the most. And he is my father i have nothing but love ❤️ and respect for him, so I said nothing just walk away. They all think I’m a frivolous woman hungry for more money. When in reality I just want to get out of debt save for my kids education, save for retirement and have several sources of income. And on top of that my husband don’t put any interest in our budget even when I ask him to have a budget meeting. He tells me yes but never happened and I don’t want to force him I think he is a grown man and should know better. By the way I’m 29 pregnant with my 3rd have 22 k saved and a lot of debt and I can’t stop feeling guilty for have that money saved up with all the debt we have but at the same time I feel secure and safe. And My husband is about to get laid off.

The way I’m paying off debt is saving the total amount and then pay it off in one lump sum. That way if you ever run into problems you have the money to pay for it. Eventually you will have the money to pay everything off. Just budget your monthly expenses and be very strict on spending.

Wait they has a second car. Can’t they just get a car that will run for 5-8 instead? And cut down most of the debt? I’m confused why Dave didn’t suggest this. He made it sound like his other car is nicer than the one he bought for 18, which would put him over the 50% rule....

He said second HAND car. Not second car. :)

Sometimes it seems Dave pushes the hangup button way too soon, that further discussion could take place. Does anyone know what the caller hears afterwards? Hopefully its not literal end of the call for the caller :)

So you don't allow to use Credit Cards even if those are paid off in full with every statement?? I like to use them for 2% cash back reward but I always overpaying statement balance

Most people who can handle paying off their credit cards in full every month don't usually have a need to call Dave Ramsey in the first place.

I cringed when he said he was moving from New York to California, never move to a super expensive state before you are financially set

California is a big state. Stay away from the Bay Area and LA. You will be fine.

I just cut our credit card in 10 small pieces. It was very fun.

Why? You could just keep it in your wallet and it’ll cost you nothing. People have no self control these days.

All these people watching KZbin during quarantine. I was doing Doordash 10 hours a day. But, cool, a full-time pastor just kicking back at his computer. Not exactly what Paul the Apostle did.

Every year I add $5000 in debt, but I also contribute $20000 to my (Canadian) retirement savings account RRSP (= 401k in the USA). The debt is under a line of credit at a 7% per year interest rate (now, but variable with the prime rate). The RRSP has been giving me an 11% per year return over the last 5 years. I've been doing this "game" for almost 5 years. I have reached now $140000 in my RRSP account but I also have $26000 as debt. Should I continue this game or should I stop? It's probably worth mentioning that $20000 in RRSP contribution is giving me a bit over $8000 in tax savings (deferred until after retirement, the money is being taxed on withdrawal; once you retire and stop the RRSP contribution, you have to withdraw around 4% per year). Retirement in 10 years.

You put some in a separate account. You also pay down debt. You would be surprised how fast that seperate account grows. Once your close or surpace. Transfer pay off !start again .
