DR likely hit the nail on the head about the partying. This guy needs a loan to get a head turning car to maintain the image and life style he wants. No way will he go for a cheap car, nor a spartan life style. He’ll get a car loan alright, but at an exorbitant interest rate. Forecast is not for debt free in a year, and likely chapter 7 in less than 10.. DR has given him a path, and hopefully he’ll follow it. On the bright side he’s 22 , has respectable income, is bright, bought a house with a plan to pay for it, and is seeking advice from a great source. Hope runs high for his future! From one living debt free except mortgage, 850, and it took sacrifice to get there.

22 yr old kid bought a Lexus and has zero money despite no rent or mortgage payment. Not a chance he bought a 3k car. He won’t do anything Dave recommended.

I think his only worry was having that 4K in the bank in case one of his roommates splits. He’s young and sees money coming in all month long, the only bad decision that had a consequence was the car. So it’s his first reality check. But hopefully it’s all he’ll need.
