any man who endured that first knee cap accident would be rolling on the floor, but she was a tough cookie.
@stoffni9 жыл бұрын
idealmethod Rolling on the floor with a dislocated knee? That would just hurt more XD She did the most logical thing in that situation. Do not move that leg. Something most people do. When in pain at a certain area, we are programmed to not touch or move that area. Ever seen kids telling you not to touch the area that hurts? Same principle. I work as an EMT. I've seen my fair share of dislocated parts, incl knees. Fortunally enough, It has never happend to me. But I've never seen anyone, man or woman, to be rolling around on the ground. I've seen both men and women crying in pain and chock. Chock plays a huge role in these kind of injuries, cause the injured can usually see the injury. Just wanted to give my 2 cents :) PS. Yeah, she took the injury good. Tough cookie as you called her. =)
@mattmcphillips47099 жыл бұрын
+stoffni even though you might have experience as an Emt and I respect that but the best the thing to do with a dislocated patellar or kneecap is to slowly go down and straighten your leg so it will go back into its groove I know what I'm talking about It's happened 7 times to me in two years and I've had two surgeries because of it
@stoffni9 жыл бұрын
matt mcphillips That depends. Which is why you want experienced medical personnel to take a look at it. If you try to straighten it without knowing exactly how it has gone dislocated or even if there is further injuries, that might not show because of the dislocation, you run the risk of damaging yourself even further, worst case even for life. I've seen athletes who've straighten it out by themselves and taking pain meds just to be able to continue the competition, only to have to retire only a week later. In most cases, yes, putting the kneecap or any dislocation back to its proper position is ideal. But, doing so without experienced medical personnel is not ideal. Also, you have to look at more than just if said bone is dislocated. Muscle, tendons and ligaments has to be considered. I've been on calls of (usually younger kids who do sports) who has dislocated all from knees to shoulder to wrists and I have put the bones in back on some. But it is not unheard of, by us, to take the judgement call to just give pain meds and drive in for a doctor and possibly a scan cause of certain "signs" of further injuries. But, what I ment with my previous comment was that when we, humans are in pain, in severe pain, we shut down (Especially if we can see the injury) unless we're in a life and death situation, eg. in a house on fire. The reason why we do that is because our brain knows that further movement can injure the body even more, which, in most cases is true. I'm interested in knowing what caused you to have you kneecap to dislocate a whole 7 times. Was it because of being an athlete or a condition? If you feel O.K with sharing of course. What kind of surgeries did you go through? I've been on a kneecap replacement surgery once and it was incredible to watch. I don't want to be disrespectful towards surgeons and say it is like magic but... its like magic, at least it feels like it as you watch them work :P Even though you don't really do kneecap replacement for anything other than atrithis but I thought I would mention it :P PS. I'm sorry for any mispellings and/or grammar mistakes. English is only my second language and I've always had it a little bit rough with the writing. I hope you can overlook it :)
@mattmcphillips47099 жыл бұрын
stoffni i am a hockey player and i also have no trochlear groove for the kneecap to sit in. Ive had two surgeries. The first, was a lateral release and medial reefing to loosen the lateral retinaculum and to tighten the mpfl( medial patellofemoral ligament). I was okay with the surgery then about 8 months later it dislocated again and i knocked 25 percent of cartilage off of the under side of the kneecap. so they redid the lateral release and medial reefing and also screwed the cartilage which was stuck in my joint back into the patella. I am only 15 years old by the way. If you need any further info email me @ mynameismatt44@gmail.com thanks

I'm so tired of people saying guys are tougher than girls, in my opinion I think both genders have a different amount of Tolerance for types of pain. If guys had to give birth and have periods they would freaking die, but guys were built for more physical activity, but that does not mean women aren't just as good as men at sports!
@ihatebyu198510 жыл бұрын
Giving birth is not nearly as painful as passing a kidney stone for a guy....
@ihatebyu198510 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind. You talk to a girl who has gone through all that "pain" and a couple months/years later, she is saying, "LETS DO THAT AGAIN!!!" You talk to a guy about getting kicked in the nuts, or passing a kidney stone, and ask if he wants to do it again, "HELL NO".
@MeghanHubbardMusic10 жыл бұрын
Nic we say let's do it again because there is nothing more satisfying than the love a mother has for her children. So yes. I have two children. I want a 3rd! I would happily go through the excruciating pain and terrible birth experience and 9 months of bed rest again to bring another child into my life and my husbands life. The difference between men and women is...women have a higher pain tolerance. This is proven by science! You choose not to get "kicked in the nuts" we choose to take and endure the pain to bring children into the world to grow population! Keep your ignorance contained! Thanks!
@ihatebyu198510 жыл бұрын
Meghan Hubbard Your kidding right? Women have higher pain tolerance because its "proven by science!". That is totally inaccurate for multiple reasons. A group a scientist have specifically said men have higher pain tolerance. After that a group of women scientist set out to prove them wrong. That alone discredits their finding. They set out with and agenda which. It has been proven time and time again people who set out to find "facts" with hidden agenda's will set up experiments and bend findings to their benefit. Now if study temperature and who feels discomfort/pain more and sooner, women take the cake aka they feel more sooner. That is about the closest we can actually get to discovering pain tolerance, because as of right now. Doctors and scientist cant even really describe what pain is and how scientifically measure it.
@XSRtiliry42010 жыл бұрын
pain is all in the mind, we can control it if we give our selves enough power to over come the "feeling" of pain! its not male or female thing, its a brain power thing!

Despite how bad it looks, That first one if a pretty mild injury. That is a patella (knee cap) dislocation, to fix it, you literally push it back in place and recovery is a couple weeks.
@harlieschmidt59452 жыл бұрын
Do NOT push it! You slowly straighten the leg and the patella will go back in. If the leg is already straight and the patella is out, slowly guide it back in place using both hands: one slowly pushing it in and the other on the medial (inner) side to prevent further injury
