I was not a fan of SSR but his presence in films touched hearts, he was special , we normal middle class to lower class people saw ourself in him in someways. He was always pointed out as a best example of a serial actor who making big in recent decade, when the gap between serial and film industries widened. He just started to make us fall in love through his films, and he was gone like that. Can understand the feeling Mukesh ji talking about. We definitely lost a gem as an actor to be.

Bollywood disgusts me today, it was a different genre decades ago as India was finding its feet from independence. SSR was a superb product of the new India, educated, intelligent and forward thinking. A very sad ending for such an enlightened soul.
