I don't believe that your emotional pain can be translated into your singing. It's a matter of technical skill, practice, and having a voice like Sonu and Arijit that can make a song a masterpiece. I'm a huge admirer of Arjit Singh. His song 'Laal Ishq' is more therapeutic for me than any therapy in the world. His singing has made me realize that music has the power to replace some forms of psychotherapy if musicians and mental health professionals collaborate to make it possible. I remember Himesh Reshammiya told about the necessity of being versatile in saregamapa 2007 regarding a contestant named Musarrat that music industry doesn't look for a versatile singer rather looks for a singer who has expertise in certain genre. Sonu Nigam also told exactly the same thing in the last part of this podcast. One doesn't need to be versatile to get a song or job in todays era, kam wohi karo jisme tum expert ho. Tabhi ghar me roti barkat sab milegi.
