The psychoanalytic set-up allows for a fair amount of abuse against the patient. There is a reason psychoanalysis is dying out.

@@Chino-bk9fd I actually trained at an institute in Vienna where one of the old training analysists praised the institute at a conference celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the institution for fighting against "The Americanization of psychotherapy." Being naive, I believed that scientific processes knew no borders. No one would explain what they meant. As far as I could tell, the "Austrian" method means bringing the patient into distress via extreme withholding until they break. Proclaiming unsolicited interpretations as if the heavens had opened and god almighty had spoken seems to be part of it too. Nationalism has no place in science IMHO. Not a good look given their history. Anyway, I am cured of Austrian psychoanalytic therapy. Thanks, but no thanks.
